If it had kills 99.9% of germs on the label they could of jacked up the price more

    • You can add or mix some Detol / Savlon as a hack to normal liquid soap

  • Great deal if you live near a store with stock

It's still soap isn't it? That's all you need to kill virtually all virus and bacteria because soap pulls apart the fatty structure of the little guys.

My understanding is you will need to rub normal soap for more than 20 secs under lukewarm water to be effective.

The anti-bacterial handwash probably can do it within 5 secs in cold water. So I know what I'd choose for myself and my family.

Bacteria and viruses are not the same thing, and the coronavirus is not bacterial.

@Duckman: So would you say the same for wipes?

Is baby wipes just as effective as antibacterial ones?

        • Anti-bacterial substances also require being left on the surface for a similar period to have effect.

      • It's still soap isn't it?

Liquid washes are almost always detergents and not soaps. Here is just one of numerous online articles that explains the differences, and here is one that explains the chemical differences.

        • for all intents and purposes their action is the same whether its by forming a micelle or acting as a wedge to disrupt the cell wall. they both contain surfactants. The major ingredient in liquid soaps is actually the thickening agent. So a bar of soap will actually provide the highest ammount of surfactant to wash your hands and because it takes time to work up a lather youre more likely to spend enough time properly washing your hands.

because it takes time to work up a lather youre more likely to spend enough time properly washing your hands

There is no correlation between lathering and time spent washing hands. It is equally likely that the hand washer will give up lathering (because the bar of soap felt ineffective, particularly in cold and hard water) and prematurely abort the wash cycle.

    Not Antibacterial

  • +8

Coronavirus isn't a bacteria guys. The clue is in the name. You don't need it just soap and warm to hot water.

    • You don't need it for bacteria either. And even if it was "antibacterial" that doesn't mean it has no antiviral effect, and it doesn't even mean it works against all bacteria. So the whole bacteria/virus discussion is fairly pointless - it depends on the substance, the germ, and how long you use it for.

  • No stock jn SA

As usual. No soap, no tp, plenty of crisps and soft drinks on our shelves.

  • Not in stock except in Melb

  • Limit of 2 per customer online - find it funny how they are still being able to sell 6 bottles of soap to someone knowing the shortages.

Also who needs to reduce a discontinued line of toilet paper - 24pk for $7 in these times

  • no free delivery. click and pick in city is too risky atm.
