Which Garage Door Brand to Pick up?

Hello fellow OzBargainers

The existing rolling garage door in our house is broken after have been smoothly operating for about 20 years and it needs to be replaced.

Have quoted two brands so far: Roll-a-door (the existing door) and Taurean.

Ideally, the easiest and hassle free option would be to replace the existing door with the same brand. However, Taurean seems to be two times cheaper than Roll-a-door brand. I know the "you get what you paid for" law but it doesn't mean Taurean is not a good brand at all. So, before going ahead to sign the invoice, I wondering if people here have any recommendations or opinions to share with regards their garage door brands?

Thanks a lot and appreciated your time!

  • The people installing will know how good or bad each is. Talk to them and if you don't trust get a new fitter

  • If something is 2x cheaper doesn't that mean it's more expensive?

My Garage Door guy that has been doing garage doors for 30 years is a B&D dealer. Maybe there are better but B&D have been around for a long time.

  • You mean the motor right?

    • No, the motor is fine. The roller door edge belt on the motor side has got worn out and ripped. The garage door service guys said this is not repairable :(

      • +1

Damn. Get a three quotes and dont forget to put into consideration the support from manufacture and the tradie itself

      • How old is garage door if u dont mind sharing?

        • The house was built 20 years ago, I believe the door is the same age.
