Super Mario Maker 2 'WORLDS' Update

So Nintendo just announced their final Mario Maker 2 update for Switch. It now officially adds support to effectively build your own Mario fan game. You can build "games" of up to 8 worlds and 40 courses to share online.

The full trailer can be seen here.

Personally I'm excited to see what sort of worlds can be created by people like Matt Thorson (Celeste Developer who has previously uploaded Mario Maker courses) and other talented individuals throughout lockdown.

Makes an already great title for switch now truly essential for any Switch owners or platformer fans imo.

If they had this feature from the start I definitely would not have sold the game. Don't get me wrong, still had fun, but I wasn't super into making my own worlds and stuff and wish I could just download a coherent set of levels and play through. Glad to see them deliver what the people wanted in the end.

    • This is Nintendo in 2020

Splatoon Devs have set the formula for staggered release of content.
A data mine of the latest Animal Crossing game shows there is a heap of stuff which was left out and will be making it to the game in the coming months to a year.

The days of a finished game on launch day are a rarity sadly.

  • No new game styles being added and amiibo support like the original is still a shame but at least we finally can make worlds.

This update could have been Mario Maker 3.. Nintendo including all of this as an update to MM2 is really nice of them :)
