Extra Coles Receipt Offer 'Workaround'

Hey supermarket wizards, I thought I read something about this in an earlier deal late last year but can't seem to find it now. I thought I read people when they didn't have any spend $X for Y point offers, they would head in store early in the week and buy something (anything) and get the receipt. This receipt would have an offer of spend $x on your next spend and get Y points. This offer was to encourage people to get a FlyBuys account. They would then do their normal shop on the weekend and scan the receipt.

With the current lack of any offers from Colesworth can anyone confirm this works/currently works or if I have even got the process right?

  • Please try and report back

  • I tried a couple of times, but not recently. Never got any offer.

  • Does it really worth the bother?

My understanding is that the offers on receipts did happen and maybe some people did what you said. These types of offers have not been offered to anyone with an account for a while through the usual methods and I do not think they would be randomly on receipts. Coles seems to be reviewing the discounts it offers, for example they have stopped their GC being available anywhere. They have also advised that every flybuys account will have to be linked to a mobile number. They have also increased delivery charges to "…our most vulnerable communities…". One month ago a purchase over $150 was free and if you picked an 8 hour window it was free. Now only free if you purchase over $200 otherwise $12.

I agree, I don't think the offer appears randomly but rather just replicates what you normally get offered in the app. Since there's no offers in the app recently because they've pulled specials, it's unlikely to see anything on the receipt. Worth keeping an eye out for though.

    • I've got more flybuys than phone numbers so that I start to redeem all points and may ditch some cards under 400 points. Giftcard farming is getting less worthwhile in Coles now anyway.

You can fill in any phone numbers when update your details, not compulsory to do or verify it now. Situation could be changed later.

      • Yes that is how it has been but on 18 March I received an email from Flybuys, it stated in part

We are making things easier and more secure
        Hi …
flybuys is working on ways to make things easier for members and is dedicated to keeping your personal information and account secure. Soon we will be introducing the ability to sign in to your flybuys account with your email address or your flybuys number. We will also introduce a two-step authentication process to help keep your personal information and account secure.
Why do I need to provide my mobile phone number?
We'll need your mobile phone number so we can provide additional security to your flybuys account. There will be times we will send a verification code to your mobile phone as part of the two-step authentication process.

So yes they definitely seem to be wanting to change things. I just do not understand why do this in the middle of the panic buying (mid march) maybe they were trying to sneak it in and see what the response would be.

I'm sure I read somewhere the all specials (flybuys and products on special) are on the decline cos of the virus.

I have had no offers of X and Y as you put it, and barely any offers for buying a particular product and getting X points :D

    • same here. the offer section is now empty (in my android app). never happen before.

      • There was an update on Monday. If you do not update it, you can't refresh anything in the APP.

        • i updated, i can refresh, but there are no new offers. already like this since weeks ago. before corona i got lots lots

  • with covid appearing here, there are no more flybuys offer… anyone the same?

  • Maybe they are pausing the offers whilst they rebrand from flybuys to stayathomebuys

      More like cantflybuys

  • I am now not going to shops and using Coles online shopping but you cannot use Coles gift cards or even Flybuys points. When purchasing from Target online you can do both and Woolworths online as well. So how will I redeem my points? Not buying much petrol either and the goods you can purchase using points work out very pricey.

    • Do you intend to never go to a coles store ever again?

Or like you said; use it at target

  • Anyways I got a 2000 points if I spend x at coles between Saturday and Tuesday.first offer since they stopped. Also have a 1000 points for x on liquorland. A week or so back I had a 500 points on x at target. Anyway point is that coles bonus was offered this weekend.
