      Note the rating there:

      5.7 out of 5

So good, it defies the laws of maths.

wow… apple's reality distortion field works wonders.

  • +3

Oooh Baby, this is what i like to see, Phone companies slashing the price on the current model Iphone - New model is definitely just around the corner….

  • +7

The iPhone 5 is to be released in a few weeks, so you get locked into a 2 year contract on an old single core phone.

    • +1

      how many weeks, and date

      • 14 days until iPhone 5 (and most likely iPhone 4S)

wait a little longer (November 3) the Samsung Nexus Prime will come and blow it out of the water :-)

        • There has been no announcement yet, you are talking pretty assuredly at something people are guessing at.

        • cakesy - let's see how i go then ;)

      • some say, oct 21st or so

  • -2

    waiting…….

    waiting…….

    waiting…….

for all of the Vodafone haters to neg the deal, beacuse of their network. Good deal +1 for me. Thanks.

It's stoopid, i been with voda for 12 months now and I can't fault their service or value

      • +10

Then you've been lucky. VERY lucky.

        • In the past, i had very dodgy service at home (even though they assured me that it was fine), but since the Vodafail thing came out, service improved dramatically and i can't remember the last dropped call.

      • +2

its only stupid to expect telstra quality coverage for 1/3 of the price.

          96% of*

        • -1

          off*

  • Telstra has the best coverage in Australia and the fastest mobile network on the planet so it's hard to compare it with Vodafone. When I was with Vodafone I had little complaints, just as long as it's not a new or rural area.

Having said that my iPhone 4 is starting to lag so I suggest iOS fans hold out and pay a little more for the iPhone 5

  • +1

meh will see it free on $29 plans once the iphone 5 comes out.

For my iphone 3g i went on a $29 plan and only had to pay $7 for the phone each month i think. so to me, this doesn't sound that great.

  • +2

I had a frustrating time with Vodafone so my wife and I left them recently.

I certainly wouldn't want to be locked into a 24 month contract with them, paying for what will soon be an old phone.

    Neutral from me.

  • +6

Cheap iPhone 4S will come out shortly along with the iPhone 5 - If you like the latest technology then I wouldn't go near this deal with a barge pole. They are just trying to run out their old stock before the new phones arrive.

Regardless, Android phones offer better value these days. I'm assuming most people coming to OzBargain are interested in bargains and right now Android is better value for money. iPhone 4S may change this.

    • +3

Agreed. Although this might be okay value for people that prefer iOS, I don't see who would wan't to be locked into Vodafone for 24 months. $55/ Month for 24Months with a free iPhone 4 ISN'T a good deal.

      $55 x 24 = $1320

Alternative = Buy a Samsung Google Nexus S on eBay $329 Unlocked + Go on LC $20/Month w/ $650 Credit + 2GB data + Optus Network + Month to Month (cancel at any time)

      http://liveconnected.com.au/index.php/sim-only/pioneer-plus

      $20 x 24 = $480 (+ $330 for the Nexus S)

Total = $810 (SAVINGS - $510) - Plus you're on a better network and you can cancel at anytime.

Paying for a phone on a contract is stupid

A friend has an iPhone 4 on Vodafone. His Internet access is very slow and often times out. I have my Telstra iPhone 4 next to his in a cinema or bar and have 4 to 5 bars of signal. He usually has 1 or "searching…" Vodafone's network is still struggling.

  • +6

iPhone 4 should be on 29 cap with 0 handset fee.

  • +4

Hardly a bargain when you have phones such as the S2 for FREE on the 45$ Cap.. Neg :)

  • +2

not a bargain for a >12 month old phone

  • +10

The funny thing about this "deal" is that its much more expensive than when i signed up to Telstra a year ago. Telstra gives me a better network that works where Vodafone doesnt, and costs me less money.

  • +2

I really appreciate members negging a deal giving appropriate reason like: Massari and crownanchor.
But hate negging a deal for no reason at all.(Blackrider and Housecat)
Sorry to be user specific, but I want fellow members not to negg a deal, because they want to to so without a reason.

    • You satisfy now?

      • fair enough. Hope u understood.

  • +6

Yeah, I'm the first to criticise big business players like Telstra, but, as has been pointed out, this deal compares very poorly with deals available from Telstra in July 2010.

At that time the iPhone 4 was new, and had no successors on the horizon. This deal from Vodafone is, frankly, insulting. If it was a 12 month plan at these rates, then it might work for some people who need a phone right now. Otherwise, though, you're far better off with any number of superior Android handsets now available for less, or waiting until the iPhone 4 is competing with the iPhone 5.

Vodafone: make it 12 months, and throw in an iPad, and I'll consider it a deal.

Remember: always under promise and over deliver.

  • +1

i voted positive instead of neg :( fml

  • +2

Why pay 240 more when you can have the Galaxy S2 instead? Must be kidding here.

    • agreed!

  • +1

Speaking from personal experience, I found the service from their online shop to be really terrible, and would never recommend it - it took several weeks for a phone that was supposedly in stock to arrive, and then several months and endless phone calls to get the bills sorted out as per my contract. IF I was to go vodafone again, it would be done through the local store.

    • +2

Got my Desire HD through their online shop, as well as mobile broadband, all arrived within 3-4 days.
Recently had to call them to enable my global roaming and get a data pack for while in SIngapore, very helpful and all done within about 15 mins (including explaining the different data packs etc to me). Been with Voda for years, and the occasional hiccup in the network is far outweighed by the massive amount of moneyI saved by NOT being on Telstra all this time. Yes, Telstra is better, but for me being in Metro areas 95% of the time, Vodafone is a much better dea.

      • +1

Agreed, I've been on Voda for two years in Gold Coast and reception has always been good for me, never had a call drop out or a delayed text, data speeds are always 200 - 300KB/s

  • Hate Vodafone,
They are still sending me a bill for a service I cancelled 6 months ago, it is in Credit and they won't send me a cheque or adjust it with my current service provider "Three" ala "Vodafone"
