Best Dual Sim Phone for < $1000

I am looking for a dual-sim phone, I have a budget of up to $1000 and I'm looking to mainly use that budget - I'm not really looking for a value option around $600.

Any suggestions?

At this point I'm leaning Huawei P30 Pro, but also thinking of OnePlus 7T or the 7 Pro (I sort of like the sound of OxygenOS). I would quite like a headphone jack and good battery life, I also like the sound of the P30 Pro camera but it's not necessarily a super big deal.

      That is single sim.

iPhone SE, or XR/SE if you can find one cheaper than the SE maybe.

    • Single sim as well, if you can't use the esim.

Why wouldn't you be able to use the esim for one of the numbers.

        • What is the deal with esim, how does it work? I noticed that some Google pixel also has dual SIM with esim but it sounds a bit unlike what I'm looking for.

          • @drillvoice: You can have two numbers on the one phone i.e. personal number on eSIM and work number on physical SIM

            • @kerfuffle: If I already have my personal number on a physical sim, do I somehow digitise it and link it with the phone? This really blows my mind.

@drillvoice: You will need to contact your provider to do that and I believe they charge an additional $5 per month.

I also think it is only the big providers (Telstra, Optus, Vodafone) that will do an eSIM, not their resellers.

                • @iampoor: Thanks.

                • @iampoor: No one charges extra (well I certainly hope not) for an eSIM.

Source: I have a Telstra eSIM on my Google Pixel 4

Another option is the Note10+ Hybrid sim version from Samsung Education store or Samsung Govt EPP store (if you have access), which is going for $1054.35.

Otherwise it depends on what else you are after. Note10+ will have aust warranty and further updates, good camera, volte. P30 Pro has the better zoom camera and volte but probably wouldn't be updated anymore.

  • Samsung Galaxy S10 or S10e, A71.
Xiaomi Mi Note 10 Pro or Mi 9T
    OnePlus 7T
    The list goes on…

There are so many phones in this price bracket… anything else you want so we can narrow it down a bit?
    NFC?
    Fingerprint reader? Front, back, side?
    Wireless charging?
    3.5mm jack?
    Screen size?
    Notch or not?
    Storage size?
    RAM?

    • Thanks pegaxs.

      Of these things:
NFC - keen to have this.
Finger print reader - don't really mind.
Wireless charging - maybe nice to have, not sure.
      3.5mm jack - quite keen!
screen size - haven't thought about this much. Current phone is 6.2" and I probably wouldn't want to go smaller.
      notch - no strong feelings
storage - no strong feelings, currently have 128gb and that seems to be plenty. Might want bigger if can't use microSD
RAM - at least 6gb, from what I hear though that's pretty much enough.

The best thing to do is use GSM Arena's "Phone Finder" and input the specs that you want. This will give you a list of phones that support your wants. (This link already includes all the Aus. 4G bands.)

I prepared a list here that includes everything from your list as well as all the 4G bands used in Australia.

This is the list here where I only included your "must haves" (ie: Must have; 3.5mm jack, NFC, SD card slot, Dual SIM, 6.2" screen and 128g storage.)

        • cheers! very kind of you.

          • @drillvoice: Ignore the prices, as these are often in $US or $EU. It's just to give you a list of phones, then go out and find the prices you like.

I know AllPhones eBay has the 15% code on eBay at the moment, and they have the Samsung A90 5G that doesn't seem to be too price jacked and seems a pretty good spec'd phone for $623 after discount. (Dont know if it's the single or dual sim, so ask before you buy…)
