DC Universe Online Soon to Be Free to Play in October

420

DC universe will become free to play in October. There are three game plans; Free, premuim, legendary. We'll actually get to see what the games like through our own eyes. Also if you pay atleast 5 bucks in this game you get premuim for a lifetime (/ life of game)

  • I believe the unlimited currency is the currency cap (i.e. how much you can hold).

Anyway, it looks like there is no bonus for people who paid $50 for the game initially.

    • Ah yes i misread that wrong fix'd
yes there is actually you get the premuim (if you stopped subscribing) or the legendary if your still subscribing

Why do you insist on typing "fix'd" when you could hit the same number of keystrokes to type "fixed" correctly and avoid looking like a massive retard?

        Kids these days… shakes fist.

        • "Fix'd" sounds cooler than "Fixed"

  • I hear the game is stupidly balanced… Speedsters are way too powerful. I think that sounds pretty realistic really, they would just run rings around others.

I havent played but that sounds right

  • What about PS3 version? Will it be free to download from PSN?

    • yep

  • I played this, good game but couldn't stomach being charged 5 bucks more a month to play then Americans, haven't been back since, but I think I'll be giving it another go, thanks for the heads up.

Edit: almost went back recently seeing the new lower prices for Aussies.

Well actually since you use to subscribe you get a premuim account forever (well atleast the game life) :)

      • Ahh nice!

        • Not really. You paid $50 for the game (I did too) and you get the same amount of content as people who will pay $5.

        • yeah.. what kheob said his right i should mention that in the post
          Edit: fix'd

Not sure this is a deal strictly speaking but cheers for the post regardless.

The AU 'Lower price' is still ~$2 more expensive than the American USD price. New Zealand is listed at $14.99 as well but I can't tell if that was in USD or NZD (it was USD when I last checked months ago).

Regardless, I un-subscribed in the first month due to the (~$5) higher AU pricing which Sony Online Entertainment never satisfactorily explained. I would have stayed and supported the game for $15 USD though.

Freemium ("Free to Play / F2P") for DCUO? Yep, I'll go back and take another look - with City of Heroes and Champions Online also on similar payment models all the superhero MMO's are now easily accessible with optional spend.

  • Interesting….

    • Very…

  • I have always wanted to be a super hero with no super power

    • :)
