Huawei GT Smart Watch Alternatives

Hi,

I am looking to buy an android smart watch and have had my eye on the Huawei GT as the price is between $150 - $180.

Does anyone have any recommendations in the price range or close to it?

I see that the Huawei GT2 Sport (42mm) has just dropped to $220 which is another one that caught my eye.

Ideally I am looking for a smart watch that looks more stylish than a fitness watch but has the expected fitness capabilities.

my dad got the Huawei Gt from his mate 20 pro promo last year. I use Apple so i can only compare it to my Apple Watch Series 4. I cant believe they can call that a smart watch, it does maybe 10% what a smart watch should be able to do. Im sure other android watches are better.

  • Yeah those are not smart watches. They're fitness gear shaped as a watch, with ultra long battery life.

Very limited capabilities (hence why the long battery life) try and get it for cheaper than what you are budgeting.

  • I do like the idea of the long battery life.

When you say it does 10% of what a smart watch should do, what do you use your smart watch for mainly day to day outside of fitness use?

  • I bought a Huawei watch GT couple of days ago from a Amazon deal that was posted here. It was a impulse buy and later checked out the reviews. Now I know it6 more towards a fitness band than a smart watch. It's doesn't have an app store and notifications are very basic. I'm returning it even without opening the Amazon box it came in. Don't be like me read the reviews to see if suits the needs of yours.

    • Yep, I have been reading the reviews and I'm just wondering if I will use any of the smart features of a watch. I currently have a huawei honor band and I mainly use it as a watch and fitness/sleep tracker, I don't use the notifications and sometimes use it for the alarm, it's all very basic, but I would expect to use a lot more on a better watch.

What attracted me to the Huawei GT watch was the long battery and the style/size, I don't really want a big watch. I prefer the size of the GT2 Sport (42mm) but the style of the GT's face/strap.

I would ideally like the music which is available on the newer Huawei but not on the earlier models, but either way you can't get apps like spotify on there.

I'm just not sure what else is out there in the $150 - $250 range that is much better than the GT or GT2 Sport and that looks somewhat stylish.

  • Hi mate,

Coincidentally I have a Huawei GT that I no longer use. It does have an outstanding battery life and has a solid build quality. Did you want to explore if we can work something out? Saves you some money and you get a great piece?
