How to Cast Amazon Prime from Android Phone to LG Smart TV?

Hi Friends,

I have a Samsung Note 10+ and a smart LG TV. Yesterday I tried to cast some content from the phone on the prime app to my LG TV but there was not cast button showing on the app on the phone. I reinstalled the app but still i could not see the cast option. I can cast YouTube successfully but can't do it from the prime app.

Please let me know if there is a solution to this.

Thanks

You might be able to mirror the device on your smart tv - either in the Google home app or simply by screen sharing directly from the device.

Sorry, I don't have a solution for this but Chromecast from the Amazon Prime Android app was working for me only a few days ago

    Chromecast

  • Do i need to buy a chromecast device to do this?

Do I need a chromecast to cast to a device without chromecast?

      That would be yes.

Pepper calls it how he sees it!!

EDIT: Sorry missed the bit where you said YouTube cast already works. NFI then.

Depends on your phone, mine has a 'screen sharing' option under 'settings', 'network' (LG-V30) which works well.

  • Ok I tried using the screen mirroring option - but for that to work i nee to download the video on my device first. There is no option of directly playing the video on the TV without downloading the video on the phone first.

Or just stream to your phone whilst mirroring?

    Not sure about mirroring.

But, as an alternative, you might be able to install the Amazon Prime app on your TV. I have an LG TV and have the Prime Video app directly installed on the TV.

  • Thanks Auusiepom - the prime video app is already there on the TV- but it always displays an error saying "Check Internet connectivity" - tried everything from reinstalling the app on the TV. but nothing works.

    • How old is the TV? Is it connected to the internet?

  • The TV is a new, I searched a lot of forums on Amazon and this seems to be a common issue with LG tv's.

It's not possible. You can only select and play content through the amazon app on the TV. If you want to select and play content from your phone app then you need either a chromecast or fire stick however these will not play through the TV app they have their own amazon prime app stored within their device therefore your TV remote will not work to play and pause video, you will need to use your phone to do so. You will need the chromecast ultra to play content in HDR or UHD if your TV is capable of this.

Chromecast and Firestick both support HDMI CEC, I see no reason why the TV remote would not work to play/pause.

      • Ahk you're correct, seems it just doesn't work on my 2018 remote because it lacks a play and pause button :( looks like the 2019 remotes have a play and pause button

  • I have the same phone and can cast successfully, but I cast via chromecast.

    Does Smart View work?

    • Smart View just plays the downloaded vidoes. It does not play real time?

How do you cast via chromecast? Do i need a chromecast device?

      • Yes, mine's plugged into a dumb Panasonic TV.

  • i have old plasma tv and i sent amazon prime content via chromecast

The cast icon is on the lower right of the screen in the Amazon Prime video app on my Android phone.

I have a Chromecast and it casts just fine to that.

I also have an LG TV and had S10+ the trick is you don't want to stream video but mirror your phone screen.
When you go to Screen share quick launch icon on Note10+ it will show as a dropdown. Hit drop-down you will see mirror option.
On your LG TV depending on the model, (I have 2 years model) go to Recents/Screen Share and stay on that screen while your phone connects to the TV.

    Prerequisites;

TV and phone should be on the same wifi network
VPNs don't work with screen share/mirror

It will work with screen share (or mirror). You know how you swipe down to mute your phone, turn on torch and other random stuff- if you swipe across, Smart View should be in your options.

On the TV, if you press the home button, and scroll across, there will be a screen share option too. So choose this on the TV, then press the Smart View button on your phone, and it will connect the two.

This plays whatever you've got going on your phone through the TV, including the audio.

I've done it in the last week on an LG TV with a Samsung S8; I'm assuming it'll be the same with your newer models too.

Thank you all. I was able to do it via the screen share option on the phone and the Mircast App on the LG TV.

I would have loved to have the cast option on the prime app just like i can do with youtube. But I guess i will have to stick to screen sharing option.

    Many thanks once again.

    Stay safe
