Ergohuman Chair Advice

Hi all,

Like many people currently, i'm looking for an ergonomic office chair. I'm thinking at this stage on getting an Ergohuman Elite Mesh however had a few queries which i was hoping those who owned this seat could clarify.

  • Some forums had stated that the arm rests did not go down low enough even in the lowest setting which could be a problem for those on the shorter side. I'm on the shorter side at 167cm. Could anyone who has the chair comment on this? Is the headrest too high?
  • I'm based in Melbourne and wanting to try the seat out before purchasing. I couldn't seem to find any Ergohuman showrooms or resellers based here. I thought Temple & Webster in Richmond would be an option but they've told me that store is closed. Any idea where i could try it out?
  • Where did you purchase from? Temple & Webster as well as Ergohuman themselves have them but it's a little confusing since they seem to name the chairs slightly differently.

Any other recommendations on Ergohuman chairs or ergonomic chairs in general is welcomed.

Thanks!

  • I'm sitting on one right now.

    • Arm rests at its lowest sits 15cms from the seat
    • Head rest height is adjustable
    • You can buy directly from their website. In my case, I got mine off Gumtree.
  • I have had a v4 for 3~4 years. It is the worst mesh chair I have ever sat in, especially if you compare it to an HM Aeron. The seat mesh is stiff and sloped in a strange way. In order to get to the lumbar support, you end up sitting as far back as you can but the seat drops off too early so all your weight is on your thighs. I have some had some pelvic nerve issues sitting on it.

The head and arm rest weren't problematic for me, it was the seat that really got me. Make sure you try it out somewhere first (I got it online so can't help there).

  • I have the v2 - I think its great. I'm 171cm, and i find it as good, if not better than the HM Aeron.
Only downside is I like the headrest on my upper neck, and it doesn't go low enough for that.

  • I tried it at gainsville showroon in south bank, couple of months back(don't know if they are open atm) — https://www.gainsville.com.au/product/ergohuman-plus-elite-v…

  • I have a gaming chair, it's black and inconspicuous in design so can pass off as an office chair. Could be an option for you to consider if you can't find anything else.

  • I have had this 1 for about 10 years now and I sit in it for 8+ hours a day…

  • Thanks for the comments all. For anyone wondering, i ended up getting the Ergohuman Elite Mesh from Gainsville (it's called Ergohuman Plus Elite v2 but is the same thing): https://www.gainsville.com.au/product/ergohuman-plus-elite-v….

Very happy with my purchase. The chair is extremely comfortable and customisable. Seems to be made from quality materials and is very solid. Came very well packaged too.

Between this and my sit/stand desk i don't seem to be having any aches from being in front of a computer for 8+ hours a day.

    • Just doing some research and wondering if you can measure how low the headrest gets from the bottom of the seat :) Just trying to figure out if it goes low enough for my shrimp height for 153cm or would it end up pushing my head forward. If it doesn't go low enough can you tilt it out of the way maybe?
