[PC] Steam - Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne - $3.49 AUD ($2.97 if you have HB Choice) - Humble Bundle

710

Great price for a classic innovative shooter. Yes, the graphics are a bit old now but the gameplay is still heaps of fun.

From the website:

Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne is a violent, film-noir love story. Dark, tragic and intense, the in-depth story is a thrill-ride of shocking twists and revelations.

His life in ruins, Max Payne finds himself back in the NYPD. During a routine murder investigation he runs into Mona Sax, a woman he thought dead, a femme fatale murder suspect. She holds the keys to the questions that haunt him. But nothing is simple in the dark and tragic night of New York City. An army of underworld thugs stands between Max and the answers he seeks. His journey deeper into his own personal hell continues.

Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne delivers an intense gameplay experience. It features fierce, yet stylish action sequences and the slow-motion gunplay that has become synonymous with the Max Payne series.

Enjoy!

Such a good game. Max Payne 1 and 2 were very unique back in the day. Shame that Rockstar decided to veer so far from the originals with Max Payne 3 which IMO sucked hard.

      truth has been spoken.

When 3 came out I thought the premise of the game, and the story were terrible choices, and got the vibe they'd sticky taped the Max Payne characters and brand to a different game idea (I still do tbh). However, when I played it I didn't hate it half as much as I thought I would.

It's weird that the game's core mechanic (John Woo bullet time) which was and is still a massive hoot has never really been taken forward by anything.

      • I was the opposite, thought that the choices had to be made and that maybe the game would be good despite how different it looked. When I played it I couldn't wait for it to be over.

Max Payne 1 and 2 was made by Remedy not Rockstar. They sold the franchise to Rockstar afterwards and went on to make one of my all time favourite game Alan Wake. Now that game needs a sequel!

      • +1

Remedy has made many awesome games, Control, Quantum Break!

      • +1

Yep, Alan Wake is the reason why I bought an Xbox 360, and that in turn got me into the whole Xbox ecosystem. Love all of Remedy's games.

Max Payne 1 and 2 was made by Remedy not Rockstar.

Never said they were, it was implicit in that Remedy developed the first two. What I was saying was that anyone who knows understands that the first two games were made by Remedy (who are a great developer) and then Rockstar came along and wrecked the franchise by making a game so far removed from the first two there's hardly a resemblance to them.

They sold the franchise to Rockstar afterwards and went on to make one of my all time favourite game Alan Wake.

Yeah they sold the IP after Max Payne 1, but still got to make Max Payne 2.

Never completed Alan Wake myself.. maybe I should do that one day.

I've been working through my pile of shame. There's never been (or likely to be again) a better time for it.

Max Payne 2 is one of the best games I've ever played.I was legit thinking about it a few weeks ago for whatever reason. Will def buy this.

  • Awesome game, love the series. Wish they would make a MP4…

  • +1

Played it for the first time ever earlier this year and it was one of the best games I've played in a while.

    • +1

When I think of "short and sweet" games I think of Max Payne 2.

Just need an option to skip those annoying dream sequence levels

    • +2

Nothing beats the crying baby dream sequence in the first game in terms of horribleness.

  • I hope there's a deal for 3 at some point soon, underrated classic.

Lol! Literally bought Max Payne 1 & 2 on saturday from HB after binging on Neo-noir materials lately.

Brilliant game and an even better Soundtrack.

Probably my favorite game ever. Story, voice acting, game-play, soundtrack, all masterful. I'd recommend trying Remedy's new game "Control" if you haven't already. They also used Poets of the Fall in it which is a nice easter egg.

His shirt always remains tucked in no matter what. I think May Payne uses shirt stays under his pants.

Can this be played on a modern computer, that's the problem I've had with the original Max Payne. Need to convert my computer into a Y2k Machine to run it.

  • Must have finished 1 and 2 a dozen times back in the day.

  • +1

amazing games, lots of great memories, I remember playing through one of them which had a storm scene and there was a massive storm outside with thunder and lightning and wasnt sure at times if the effects where real from the storm outside or from in game. It was a great experience. Also remember getting stuck in a boss fight where he kept chucking Molotov from a mezzanine floor

    • +1

I remember that too.. if I'm not mistaken you had to shoot the bolts/braces on the chandelier to succeed?

  • MP2- Pausing the game in Bullet time and taking photos was awesome. Excellent game and great story and sound track. Big fan of the series.

  • I remember this game to be really cool but unfortunately my rig back then stopped me from enjoying the experience. Now that I have enough firepower I'm reliving a lot of older games that I've missed including this one. Thank you op.

Classic game - way ahead of the curve

  • Killed one of my weekend finishing MP 1, loved the game so much.. My online tag was MaxxPayne for a very long time.

Didn't play 2 cause I was very disappointed they didn't use the same face on character.

Might have to remedy that now.
