Home Security System - Mix and Match Requirements

Hi All

Just wondering if anyone can make recommendation on a home security system that has the following functions.

I have done some web searching but most systems tend to be packaged and have a set amount of things that you are restricted too.

Items that I am after.

  1. Everything connecting back to a hub that give remote WIFI access - through an app (android)
  2. All items to be accessible via app remotely
  3. Security cameras (up to 10) - hardwired (no batteries) with data back up
  4. Reed switch for doors
  5. Magnetic switch for windows
  6. Break glass sensor
  7. Speaker connectivity allowing remote communication to door bell and speakers throughout house

Am I asking for much or is this fairly standard in this day and age?

Cheers

Have you contacted a professional installer and asked them about the options with say, Bosch or Paradox etc?
You may even be looking at 2 systems - one for the alarms, one for the cameras (depending on budget).
Companies such as ADT provide apps you can use which provides arming, disarming etc, as well as SMS alerts etc.

Unfortunately no, as I don't have the budget to get it done, I'll have to diy. I'll have a look at those systems and see what I come up with.

I'd suggest 2 different systems would do this better. You can probably get it "all in one" but you will likely compromise quality for the combo. That said, some of the big names are starting to cross between the two spheres. Paradox is starting to integrate cameras into their alarms.

FWIW, I'd use paradox for the alarm component and Hikvision for the CCTV. Both have apps for remote access.

    • How is it using 2 apps? I think I could live with that

The app for Paradox is "Insite Gold" - has an in app purchase for I think $10USD per year ($25 for 3 years) for connectivity. You need a module on your panel to provide the internet access - IP150 is the module name.

The app for Hikvision is "iVMS" - no fee.

  • Hey OP, what system did you end up buying?

    • Reolink POE RLC520 with 8 cameras and a 4tb NVR

Following items weren't in it, but I compromised as the price was good.
