Soundbar discussion (opinion)

Hey all,

I'm looking at a soundbar setup for my games room.

I currently have the Bose 700 with sub and rear speakers.

I love it,
Before that I bought the 750 Atmos setup and it was very underwhelming. Bass levels were terrible, rear speaker volume terrible.

I've read alot about the q90r being "the best atmos" soundbar.

I'm not all sold on the Atmos part as alot of content isn't Atmos.

My Bose works flawlessly, syncs with everything perfect and thumps the house.

I've also read people getting the 750 bar and 700 subwoofer and that being "better" than the q90r as it has a 10" sub.

What are your thoughts?

Stick to another Bose or jump to a 90r or 750+700?

Cheers all!!

last time i researched the topic, soundbars were better than a built in TV, but worse than anything else.

I'm looking at a soundbar setup for my games room. I currently have the Bose 700 with sub and rear speakers. I love it….

    What are your thoughts?

Haven't you already answered your own question?

    • Should have mentioned, 2k compare to ~1k.

And if the q90r/750-700 setups have made an improvement over the og Atmos, then maybe it's worth it.

Obviously testing the Samsung setups instore is difficult.

The rear speaker sound being low I can deal with, it's the bass that was terrible on the og 850 atmos

      • You've already got a personally tried and tested top-of-the line setup, so I'd stick to it.

I've actually got the same Bose setup and I find it amazing!

        • I was able to go and hear a q90r in a proper setup today, and I must say, the 1008 update has really solved the rear speaker and sub issues.

It was a really nice sound and bass was great.

  • Just wondering AgeChamp. I am looking at a soundbar as well. Actually specifically I want a soundbar where then I can connect my Bose QC35 to it and the sounds comes out there and not through any speakers in the soundbar. I read that the Bose 700 can do that (ie adjust volume levels so the headphones have full volume whilst sound bar volume is 0).

  • I have the HW-N950 which is a model or two before the Q90r and I think it is fantastic. The sound is loud and clear. The bass is thumping. I enjoy watching Atmos. I do have the top and rear sound levels set at +6.

Overall if you want a sound bar setup over the traditional setup then I would definitely recommend Samsung.

PS make sure you update the firmwares if you decide to buy one.

    • I had the 850 and the bass was terrible and rear speakers I could bearly hear working.

That's what worries me again going the q90r

Hence why I also thought about the 750 bar with 700 sub.

  • Anyone with the q90r able to comment on how thumping the bass levels are?

Or anyone who's actually had the Bose and the Atmos Samsung? Able to compare.

    Cheers
