TP-Link RE450 AC1750 or Mesh

Hi Wifi or Network experts out there, I'm deciding to either purchase TP-Link RE450 AC1750 or a Mesh like TP-Link Deco M5. I know there is a price difference. I have pretty bad wifi reception upstairs in one of the rooms in my house. The modem is located on teh ground floor so signal upstairs is weak when the room is furthest away. So I'm deciding or which one of these to get reading deals and comments from here, seems like these 2 products are pretty good and are in my price range.

Would like to hear your opinions and recommendations.

  • I don’t recommend Range Extender.
Use Mesh or Access Point (EAP range for TP Link).
If money is not an issue, get Ubiquiti Access Point.

If you cannot run RJ45 cable (for the access point) then try using Ethernet over Power (Powerline Adapters)

    • I can't run RJ45 cables, does Mess require to run RJ45 cables?

      • Mesh usually comes in 3-pack. You only need the first one to connect to your base modem/router with RJ45 cable.

        • 2 pack or 3 pack - I'm thinking only to get a 2 pack to put one upstairs.

          • @99altezza: This depends on (1) the distance between #1 and #2 after installation, (2) what your walls are made of/how thick, and (3) the range of the WiFi you need/which room needs to use the WiFi.

If budget is the absolute factor and you are not hardcore WiFi user and you don't have NAS, I would get these two:
            (1) $59 Powerline Adapter (600 Mbps)
            (2) $48 Access Point (300 Mbps on 2.4GHz)
            Total: $107
You can get them cheaper if you search around and if you want to future proof, get the higher range.
