Microsoft Surface? Surface Laptop? Or Better?

Looking to upgrade and I have a bad habit of liking something and sticking to it, buying it and then realizing there was a better option!

SO..

Im asking the OzB Fam for help.

I have been looking at the Surface 3 Laptop 13" @ the $1699 price Mark, I like the overall look and wanted a laptop as I was thinking typing would be easier no matter how I am using it.

I am looking for something I can use for photo editing & Website designing.

I usually have 10 or so webpages open and a couple programs going at the same time and just your usual pc use, emails, youtube, netflix etc.

Any other suggestions?

    Go for 16gb of ram if you can. I have a 1st gen surface book and love it.

      I was thinking too but do you reckon its worth the money?

      According to pricehipster, when on sale the i5 is $1444 and the i7 16gb is $2251 so about a $807 dollar difference.

        Source: Have eight year old laptop with 16GB of RAM, probably wouldn't be working these days still if I didn't upgrade it from 4GB (it still works fine)

    It isn't bad. The single usbc and usba port is a pain (for me). The power cable is too short so I use a mac book pro one.

    Get the one that has the metal keyboard rather than the alcantara. The carpet feel is nice but oil from your hands builds up and six to 12 months in it looks gross and there is not a way to clean or replace it.

      I have have definitely thought about the alcantara downfalls and have decided against it. They do look nice though

    Surface Laptop is probably better than the Surface, simply because you can use it on your knees. Even though the Surface can just be used as a tablet, the downside of that is that the keyboard has to be placed on something firm to be used, so if you want to us it on a train or similar, it can be hard.

    I had a surface pro 4. Sold it after 3 years as the battery life was garbage.

    Built in batteries on these machines make them next to useless for long term use imo. I’d get a proper laptop and a tablet with pen next time.
