Chanel No.5 Eau De Parfum 100ml, $210 Delivered (RRP $240) @ Chemist Warehouse (Online Only)

120

$30 off compare to buying from Myer/ David Jones.

I am not sure if the quality would be the same compared to buying from Myer/ David Jones tho. It's always a mystery to me that perfumes from drugstores are generally cheaper than other places. Also it's weird to see they are stocking Chanel Perfumes, as I thought Chanel has exclusive deal with Myer/ David Jones.

But a deal is a deal I guess :P

Chemist warehouse is the biggest fragrance supplier in Australia.

    • Yeah but why they small different to DJ’s/Myer?

      • Because the concentration is different. I only buy perfume for my wife from David Jones or Myer.

        • what do you mean? so these are fake?

          • +2

@jackthefrost: I never say they are fake. The perfume concentration is lower. Buy perfume from David Jones/Myer, then you can compare, which one would last longer.

          No it isn’t

          Lol, keep paying retail pal.

Check if it's made in France vs USA. Both are genuine but USA one smells terrible.

      Trump essence?

Isn't CW grey imports. They are so much cheaper than those main stores.

    Please correct the price

    • What is incorrect?

      • -4

did you try going to the website, its clearly different to whats in the ozbargain post.

        $209.99
        + FREE SHIPPING
        $39.01 Off RRP
        Don't Pay RRP: $249.00

        • Chanel No5 is 240 at Myer/DJs though

ChemistWarehouse might put their RRP at 249, but a Myer/DJ check both gives a price of 240, which is the price listed in the post
          Myer: https://www.myer.com.au/p/eau-de-parfum-spray-366760720?size…
          DavidJones: https://www.davidjones.com/brand/chanel/womens-fragrance/no5…

while I would argue that it's technically wrong, it's lower than the "other cheapest available price" which is understood if you read literally the first line of his post (I'd argue that the 249 RRP is the wrong information given the links above)

OP Clearly mentioned >> $30 off compare to buying from Myer/ David Jones. Which is correct..

@chutibuti: price is 209.99 not 210 as in post, do I need to spell it out for you

Is there chanel 5 on free2air for anyone or is this a foxtel only deal?

Been done to death, CW perfumes/colognes are half strength. Half price, pong for half as long. Many people have compared CWs versions to dept store versions and found the Dept Stores versions last on their body much longer. Genuine, but grey import, and cheap for a reason.

A more reputable reference based on a report by Euromonitor International.

parallel importing, also known as the grey market, was disrupting the industry, allowing consumers to buy premium fragrances “at largely discounted prices”. While not illegal, the grey market operates outside officially sanctioned sales channels, with perfumes shipped from countries where they were intended to be sold at a cheaper price. This happens without the manufacturer’s endorsement.

      But in the same article,

according to Sally Desancic, health and beauty development manager for Chemist Warehouse, a 30-year perfume industry veteran. “We do not deal in the grey market,” Ms Desancic said emphatically.

Ms Desancic said Chemist Warehouse was able to offer low prices because it drove a hard bargain with reputable, mainstream suppliers and was able to operate on a lower margin than the department stores, where mark-ups can be as high as 600 per cent. About 20 per cent of stock came from overseas, she said, much of it discontinued.

Grey import= moved around a lot= uncertain chain of custody= High probability of poor storage and handling, which affects alcohol and chemicals in the perfume.

    • Lol. It’s amazing reading such bullsheet at every CW fragrance post

      • Theres a thing called "not for this market". Where big brands make lesser versions of their own first world versions, to sell in bargain basement countries at a price they can afford. RayBan for example. I assure you I purchased a pair of Catch of the Day RayBans for my teenager at the time, when they arrived they felt off. The frames were good, but looking through the lens was just dark, not clear, or crisp. I took them to Sunglass Hut and myself and the lady who had been selling them for a long long time, compared the model number on the frame to her stock, the frames were right but the glass was clearly different. They were genuine RBs, but not for this market. Cheap lenses in real frames, for a low price market.

If you dont care if its the real McCoy, seems easier to just buy Lynx or whatever.

        • So since your experience with sunglasses now every product in the world has two markets, and one of the two deserves rubbish? Lol, pal. Lol.

          • -1

@Laziofogna: So since your experience with perfume now its not a consideration to explain vast price differences in a competitive market? Lol, pal, Lol.

What I did was let you know there are two markets, and it makes more sense in a competitive market that there are reasons other than major stores ripping you off for the price difference. But no, you keep deluding yourself you get the same quality real thing for way less from the 3rd world. Items priced for people ho are accustomed to paying for things with chickens. Just like you can get genuine Prada for $8 from the back of a ute in a flea market.

You get what you pay for.

            • @Tuba: Myer and DJ have higher prices because of the whole business they have to mantain. And the prices of the good stuff is just a little cheaper at CW, as you can see with this Chanel. If it was $60 instead of 240 then it would be suspect. You believe what you want, it is a free world. It's enough looking at the batch number to understand the product is the same and it would cost too much to Chanel to have two different factories for rich and poor people. You have no knowledge of fragrances and that's ok. Mentioning 8 dollars Prada is the evidence. The racist thing with the chickens bad taste, think again

              • @Laziofogna: I never said CW ONLY sell duds. Its good trick to mix it up. I merely mentioned what has been widely found to be true, CW perfume tends to be weaker.

No need for two factories, its genuine, same factory, just bottled weaker. Thats not rocket science, but if you think it needs a separate factory, thats telling in of itself. Could be its the dilute from clean up. There could be many reasons why its weaker. Its just been noted, often, that it is weaker.

Again, you listen poorly. I mentioned Prada because some people can only have the good names, if they buy fakes or lesser quality versions and for some reason cant live without the name. The product seems to be of less importance than the idea.

                I know business.

How ironic that we see a liquid costing $2.10/ml labelled a bargain.

Imagine if it sanitized as well!!!

  • Used to be in the industry and all products are generally legit. A big reason why companies ie CW can purchase cheaper from overseas is due to manufacturers dumping stock to hit targets but also due no tax. Ie Dubai. This conflicts with the local affiliate companies in Oz… in a sense the same fragrance companies are competing with each other but the big winners are shoppers .

    bought 17
    thanks OP

  • I buy Bulgari pour homme my work horse fragrance at CW, no noticeable difference from the one I bought in the department store.

  • Great deal, I'm down to my last few drops.

  • My understanding is that Chemist Warehouse buys "old" stock and lots of it. Not saying it's correct but I remember getting told this years ago.

In any case - take the price to David Jones where they will price match it.

    • They changed their rules and don’t match “warehouses” anymore, pal. And having older batches is better, if you know anything about reformulations

  • +2

Here comes the perfume experts. Why not report this to the police instead of assuming in here they are “fakes”.

    • These morons they keep writing they smell different, they know nothing about fragrances, the way they change in their silly steamy bathroom and reformulations every 2 years

  • arousing the senses of grandpas and old age pensioners since 1921. this heady aroma packs a pungent wallop of synthetic civet, ensuring you smell like you are in a torrid domestic relationship with 1000 sweaty, incontinent cats. grandma, it's time to musk up.

    • Better than smelling like Paris Hilton or Kim Kardashian
