JB Hi-Fi and price matching... their own regular specials

Anyone have any experience with asking JB to price match their own recent, but non-current specials?

ie. They've had their home-brand 65inch FFalcon TV at $600 a few times in the last few months - has anyone simply asked them to do this price in a "non-special" time and had any luck?

I've asked (on a different model, and years ago) but was told that because it was a discount provided by their supplier they weren't able to lower it to the same price again. I have a feeling it was an LG. They basically said that LG was effectively providing some of the discount. Who knows. It might have been complete BS.

Can't hurt to ask though, even if everyone here says they won't do it. With EOFY coming up, and harder financial times, they might be willing to do something?

That's usually how it worked when I worked in retail. LG says 'discount this to $', retailer discounts it, sends the sale numbers within the sale date to LG who then credits them.

You get told previous sale, supplier deal or the like. Try going in on a weekday early afternoon. When the TV guy has no customers try your luck. Say you have cash and want to buy today if he can give you a good deal. If he/she doesn't show a good price. Get him to ask manager. Only if they are close to your price. Try throwing a figure out there.

  • We went in one day when quite and was after a out going laptop. Said it was 1200 on Amazon a few weeks ago can you match. He did. Only I think as it was a model they were clearing.

Tell them you’ve sanitized the cash to sweeten the deal…😉

  • last time I tried a price match at JB the manager told me they don't have a price match policy. After a bit of to and fro, he said they only promise to charge the best price they can, price match is up to each store.

    • Don't they only price match on the exact same models?

      • that's what I thought, but I was told there is no policy and it is up to the individual store
