Tool Box SALES

Hi,

Looking for a toolbox for my son's birthday.

Prefer roller cab or workbenck trolley style ie:
https://jimytools.com.au/product/11-drawer-56inch-gts-roller…
I have seen them online but never in person or any reviews.

Budget $2k. Looking for quality that will last a lifetime.

Have looked at Kinchrome, Sidchrome, BOXO, TTI, Gearwrench etc and the build quality is pretty average.

Any ideas?

Thanks

  • For $2k you could try SnapOn… Lifetime warranty and SnapOn stickers on the side of it. Although I don’t know if you will get the whole rollcab for that price. Might go close though… Nope, just saw that you wanted a 54” rollcab and SnapOn start at around $7k+ for big roll cabs. Does your son need one that big? Does he have enough tools to fill it?

If you want a really nice, heavy duty, super nice roll out draw storage toolbox, we have Bac cabinets at work. I know they are expensive, but my god, you get what you pay for. I don’t know prices though or what you might get in your budget…

On a side note, I’ve been a mechanic for a very long time and I have never heard of Jimy Tools, even though they self quote that they are “Australia’s most trusted online tool store.”

    • I seen a not bad Snap On secondhand, unmarked. They appear to be everywhere lately. But from all reports, they are overpriced by 4 fold and are not worth the coin.

I like the idea of a soft close drawer.

All the ones I have seen at local Tool shops. The drawers/runners are all sloppy, too much movement which to me feels cheap and nasty. let alone the thickness of the sheet metal used etc.

I got a price on the BAC and it's going to be about $5k.

I have come across these: https://www.justprotools.com.au/new-maxim-red-60-roll-cabine…

      • I knew that BAC ones were not cheap… but those draws… they are a little over engineered, but they get punished at work and they are the only thing that stands up to what they get treated like. $5k is still better than $11k for a SnapOn…

  • 2k! Lucky son. Good luck with the search.

    • +1

We didn't really spend on his 21st and it's been a few years since.

  • I don't have any of their tool boxes but I do have some of their garage cabinets so you could consider www.justprotools.com.au

The quality isn't best in the world but they're good for the price. I've had mine for maybe 5 years now and haven't developed any issues but it's not like I'm opening and closing the drawers multiple times a day every day of the week.

  • You aren't getting "quality that lasts a lifetime" for $2k with a rollcab.

    • Tell me about it. Even when production is shipped to CHINA and cheap arse materials, they still want premium money.
