[PC] Railway Empire $17.48 (Was $69.95) @ Steam

410

All time lowest price for a Very Postive rated transport game.

In Railway Empire, you will create an elaborate and wide-ranging rail network, purchase over 40 different trains modeled in extraordinary detail, and buy or build railway stations, maintenance buildings, factories and tourist attractions to keep your travel network ahead of the competition. You’ll also need to hire and manage your workforce if you want to ensure an efficient train service, whilst also develop over 300 technologies ranging from mechanical improvements to the trains themselves to workplace infrastructures and advanced amenities as you progress through five eras of technological innovations.

However, you can’t just build and research your way to the top – the competition never sleeps, and to keep your business on track you’ll have to survive against up to three rival tycoons. To get to the top you may have to resort to more cutthroat tactics as you attack and sabotage your opponents through raids and industrial espionage.

        better graphics

It is a subjective term. Perhaps it has more pixels.

Best train sim I've ever played. Very detailed and polished. would absolutely recommend at this price. I paid full price and then $10-20 pr expac and don't even feel ripped off. So many nights lost thinking one more minute, one more minute.

Just take a page out of the NSW govt book and neglect the rail system you inherit to build lines with different track gauges and worthless light rail that is congested and has to be slowed in the first few weeks. Then declare victory.

There is a "downunder" (Australia) DLC where you can live out that dream if you want…

    • How dare you?! ShittyRail earned that name through determination and hardwork.

  • Great game for anyone who's into the genre

I was a big fan of the Rail Road Tycoon series. just need to find some time now….

  • 80% of users recommend this on steam. Not sure if this is best game to buy in this genre for my son.

How does this game compare to sid miers Railroads! ?

    • +3

I played Railroads! a lot. I wouldn't go back to Railroads! after playing this.
This is more complex, maps are bigger, more routing options (dedicated tracks in each direction with signals, etc), better graphics, etc.

I have been playing this genre since it started with Sid Myers. This is the best version currently as a lighter game. TTD is good too but harder for the uninitiated to get into. Railway Empire also just releases its Downunder DLC which I bought. Railway Empire is worth the price for the full game.

  • Wait long enough and the base game is surely going to appear in a Humble Monthly Bundle.

  • Good one

  • I was excited to see the Australia DLC then sad when I watched the trailer.
They did not try at all to represent Australia not even in a cursory authentic way.

I was laughing at those big red barns!

      • The train stations really annoyed me.
We have so many unique and iconic stations they could have implemented even a handful of them. Hell, they didn't even take five minutes of research to get the colours correct.

  • Is there a trick to getting this price or is it expired?
