Bingle has consistently been the cheapest for me

    • +1

Thanks! Bingle worked out about $100 cheaper than my current Budget Direct Renewal

    • Perhaps not the most appropriate for brand new cars though, as it only insures market value not agreed value.

    • Progressive direct if you have 2 cars and by a big margin

    • Next time try Woolies!

    It's budget love…

  • Nice!

ACTUALLY YOU KNOW WHAT?! i got budget direct 2 weeks ago and i re-did the calculations upon seeing this link and it came up to be approx $200 more… (everything option kept the same) so not sure if they hiked the price up

    • +4

Same i just did a quote last week and now today it's $40 more same details!!

      Dodgy Budget

I get considerably cheaper for my vehicles via Coles Insurance (literally renewed 5 mins ago)

    • +1

I just did a quote for both and Coles is $200 more expensive per year on a comprehensive policy

      • and thats why car insurance deals are pointless :) differs per person

for me, coles is ~250 less than bingle or budget, and even more to jump to aami, nrma etc.
For a couple of 10+ year old cars, comprehensive via coles is cheaper than 3rd party via nrma.

    • just checked with coles and $300 saving compared to my NRMA renewal notice…. nice!
i always forget coles when comparing.!

    Sing along now…. "Booshay booshay…."

Holy crap! That ad is 10+ years old now….and the male actor is now Mr Mum for Woolworths.

  • +3

Offtopic but I absolutely hate their current ad…

    • +2

Most annoying ad in history. I hit mute every time it comes on.

    • I don’t mind it.

  • I was with budget two years ago..cancelled because the cost of the policy inexplicably went up by ~50% in the renewal notice.

Edit: oops just remembered that was home insurance not car insurance.

    • +1

Just like most budget insurances, you just have switch each year for best prices.

      • +1

which is exactly what I did!

      • nah they all do it…it's usually after 2yrs….they lure you in, bump it up a bit the next year, then reem you on the 3rd. A lot don't notice, so pay up. I've found that with Car/House with RACQ, GIO, AAMI, Coles, Woolies, Budget. The good old days was when Coles/Woolies used to price beat by $100.

  • Not sure if it works for car insurance, but I got a quote for house insurance, just tyre kicking, and I got an offer for a $60 giftcard (JB, etc) after 4-5 days.

  • +2

Quote online first, then save and wait for few hours.

You should receive another email saying 'Your Car Insurance Quote just got $60 Better*', you'll receive a '$60 eGift Card' after 21 days cooling off period.

    • Much thanks. Was about to go ahead any way but after reading this I waited 24 hours. Got the $60 GC offer

Poncho insurance is also doing 30% off https://ponchoinsurance.com.au/covid-19/

    • Serious lack of information on Repairers and/or Choice of Repairers. Info on claiming avoids all the difficult/important questions.

  • +1

NEVER go with this company for your car insurance, i have been burned before. I did one claim and upon my renewal they send me a letter saying they cannot renew my policy, because they send the letter it considered as " if you have ever been refused to renew a policy by a provider" category, i asked them an explanation for the letter, no answer, f**cking morons, my partner was listed on the policy as additional driver, she falls in the category as well, we really had a hard time getting a new policy. Never again with Budget direct.

I SAY IT AGAIN .. NEVER AGAIN with BUDGET DIRECT, dont spoil your credit history for shorttime gain. you might save some money but you never know whats coming .
