Need Guidance - Complaint against David Jones

All need your guidance. I made online purchase from David Jones more than 3 weeks back and paid by PayPal. Invoice was of around $92 but in PayPal I was charged $140. Initially I didn't notice but after 4 days while scrolling PayPal summary found over charging and day after refund of around $25. So even after refund it was over charge of $23.

I contacted DavidJones several times but never heard back more than "We are looking into it". I raised on social media as well and same answer was provided. I also raised case in PayPal and they declined my claim without giving any reason why it is declined. I did provided invoice image to PayPal but without any explanations it is declined.

In David Jones online My Account, actual invoice of correct amount exist and image of same is shared with PayPal.

I am clueless as what I can do next.Hope someone can guide.

        Yes just go to your bank and lodge it directly with them for an unauthorised charge.

          Assuming OP paid with card via Paypal and not balance or bank account. Also wouldn't recommend this if they want to keep their Paypal account and not get banned, especially if they've declined claim already.

          I would suggest keep chasing David Jones to rectify and have some patience due the current situation and resource constraints.

          Also, triple check, it's really unusual to be charged incorrectly via Paypal especially as you log in to confirm with them so would have seen the final total..

          • @Hybroid: Yes paid by PayPal through Credit card. I was wrong in terms of waiting days transaction was on 11 April so its more than month. I am also surprised and asked to PayPal that how they charged more than what I agreed to. I always thought that through PayPal what amount I agreed can only be paid out but seems like I am wrong.

              @niagraBzO: PayPal decline doesn't mean they are correct.

              OP do chargeback. If PayPal restricts your account, lodge AFCA complaint and they will bend over.

              • @Ash-Say: Thanks I raised dispute over transaction as you suggested. Lets see how it goes. Hopefully PayPal will provide me one reason of why they declined. Surprising thing is I provided all proof and no response from David Jones but my claim is declined..

                • @niagraBzO: Paypal won't communicate with you apart from saying they have received your chargeback request from the bank.

                  They will provide response directly to the card issuer. Make sure you submit all documents to your credit card issuer to validate your claim.

      2) banned by PayPal for doing charge back
      3) PayPal appeals to bank and wins
      4) you are out money and can’t use PayPal again.

      • ohh i hope that wont happen… I have proof of invoice image which clearly states the amount. DavidJones never replied to Paypal claim and still my claim declined, hoping Bank wont do same.

    So invoice says $92 but you got charged $140, then a $25 refund the day after on PayPal?

    $92 USD is $141 in AUD.

    • Was his currency setting in USD on the DJ site. It's all in AUD isn't it on that site. Or PayPal was in USD.
