Great Doubts about The Price of Canon EOS RP

I saw on OZ that at the end of last year, the price of eos rp and adapter ring kits once dropped to $ 1k, but now the prices of all sellers are above 1.4k, and the set price has reached 1.6-1.8k. The second-hand price has reached 1.2k +. Why is that? When will Canon cut prices? Maybe it's a silly question, just holding my half-frame camera is uncomfortable.

Thank you guys😄

  • the AUS $ price. Its been shot for a long time now and is not looking at getting any stronger. Good for exports but crap for imports.

    • Good point.
I am a little regret didn't buy it last year.
From now on, it is difficult for the value of the Australian dollar to rise for a short time.

  • Well, there's a weak Aussie dollar at the moment for starters. I received emails from a few retailers a while back with specials, advising that the prices were going to be going up soon so we should BUY NOW and SAVE etc.

Also, Canon will be releasing the R6 later this year which could see the EOS RP fall in price even more…maybe.

  • When will Canon cut prices?

    Sigh

    Another crystal ball post

    • LOL
Hope price can decrease in a few days
So i could use 16-35 in full frame camera instead of aps-c!

  • I am looking for my first DSLR/Mirror-less camera so have been confused over so many options/prices and cameras seem to have doubled in price in the last 12 months! Considering the Canon EOS RP was mentioned here I thought I would see what DPreview thought https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eEcIlwJ7pzI and seems it is not for me (due to how it handles shadows/video options/overall review). I am in no rush so happy to wait till Christmas to see what comes along.

    • The biggest advantage of eos rp is the price. But for now…hard to say
Canon's tolerance has not been an advantage, perhaps Nikon will be better. I also considered 6dmarkii, but it seems that the second hand price is now more than 1k too.
If you wanna choose a camera for professional video using, definitely not rp😂
For me i think it's enough.1080 quality is already large file. Using for home, not work, it's perfect😂

  • I bought the RP last month and noticed the same thing. It was selling for around A$1k (body only) with a Canon backed cash back and now it's going for $1.8-$2k from authorised sellers (the 5yr warranty was a big thing for me).

I ended up finding it for $1.3k "box damaged" from Sunstudios whom I had never heard of, then realised it's actually Canon Australia!

Also, I think the prices went up in the past month because I recall it was more like $1.6-1.7k, so I'm not sure it's getting any cheaper. This was backed up by the fact that I bought an RF 24-105mm F/4 for $1.2k (eBay 20% off at DigiDIRECT) and since then even the base price went up from $1.5k to $1,640.

    My advice to you is:

    • Wait for the next Canon cash back, but it will be on a higher base price
    • Wait for a 20% eBay deal
