Best Way to Use Qantas Frequent Flyer Points

Hi All

I have accrued 370K Qantas points whenever Qantas credit card deals pop up in ozbargain over the past 2-3 years (5 or 6 cards?) and have 4 x Qantas lounge passes with long expiry dates which I would probably not use in the near future (I hardly use Qantas for travel)
I also have another 90k is coming up from the Westpac black card last week.

Now the question is what is the best way to use the Qantas points?
I think if I can sell the points and cash in that would be the best option but what else?

        I'd always go for business class when paying with points and economy if paying by cash. Do you want to fly business? If not, don't book business class just because it's the best value for points. It might be the best value on the paper but not the best value for you if you don't care about business class.

    Best $:Point when I was in a similar scenario (after cancelling flights) - was to get JB Hi-Fi vouchers and pick up some stuff I (wanted), but didn't really need :P Just like the flights, clearly…

    Sell for cash is the best I've found. You won't find value in terms of economy flights and upgrading to business is better value except that you're wasting money. Better to spend that $4000 on more experiences vs making 20 hours a bit more comfortable.

    Flights. Hands down.

    But it depends on how you value flights. Is a return business flight for two or a couple grand in gift cards worth more?

    I've had the good fortune of always flying in Business (or higher) the last few years all because of points. Chilling in lounges, getting real food, and having real space around your seat is basically what I've come to expect from travelling now. And I don't pay anything near the retail price of the seat I'm in.

    I'm in the business class boat. Have been religiously accruing points over the last 3 years which has got me to New Zealand and around Asia all in business for ~$500 in taxes all up. Hands down the only way to fly, especially when you know you spent far less than economy prices for tickets.

    It is dangerous though, once you get used to lie flat seats, lounges, priority boarding and everything in between its hard to go back.

      Hands down agree. There's nothing like knocking back a $1000 bottle of wine and then having a shower at 40,000 feet.

    International business class flights are the way to go - best return per point. Economy is ok but not as worth, theres sometimes discounted redemption though so look out for that. Upgrades are a good option too if you want that premium travel but able to fork the economy (non discounted) fare. Domestic doesn't seem to be a good deal imo.
    Given the iso situation, possibly explore other avenues eg. Selling points, redeeming on discounted points product in the qantas store etc.
    however, as long as you continue to earn points they wont expire…
    unless what happened to velocity happens, then it will be unknown…

    same, going to crack the 500k mark once the westpac points come in…
    Maybe one day I'll use them, but with young kids, not sure business class is going to be a worthwhile use :)

      Same here. I just sold my 4 qantas lounge passes on classified. Feels good. I may do some shopping in qantas store unless I can sell the points on classified.
