Saw this on Amazon while browsing and bought one, looked super cheap to replace my crappy usb microphone for all those wfh meetings.

Includes:
(1)NW-700 Condenser Microphone
(1)Metal Microphone Shock Mount
(1)Ball-type Anti-wind Foam Cap
(1)Microphone Audio Cable (Black)

Just noting a previous deal which was the full kit was $22.39, https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/511498. So I guessing this is a steal for almost half the price. Plus with everyone at home it'll make everyone a happy chappy in those long calls.

  • Thanks, bought it.

What about an arm for it? To mount to my desk?

    • Got it right before it expired lol, I'm gona just sit it in front of me for now. I'm sure there's heaps of different arms, neewer have their own kit too.

  • +2

I don't believe this works very well without an xlr cable and 48v phantom power. Usually there's kits that provide one but seems you'll need one separately

  • gone

  • +1

Its not gone, it's coming up as a lightning deal with a 18min timer.

Get it while its shockingly priced!

  • Youtube says this needs Phantom Power which is an additional spend?

    • +1

yeah or run it through a mixer with 48V phantom

  • +3

The previous full kit was much better, it has the arm and a pop filter too?

    Dang.

    EDIT:

I was mostly after the arm T_T.

  • I would see the price and it says available, I add to cart went to pay $44. Went back refreshed $13, went back to cart $44. I've had Amazon do this before. Frustrating.

    Got it, thanks?!

Completely not sure what it is or how I am going to use it but still went ahead and bought it.

The motivation behind the purchase was all because I put it in cart the first time and showed up $44.98 then I removed it and added it back and showed $13.48 so I hit the "Place Order" button.

Note: After 3 minutes, no indication on my phone that the credit card is charged but normally it should show already.

    • +3

I usually only get charged once it ships.

      • Charged my card just now

Family needed a microphone for a podcast idea they had, thanks, didn't realise it needed extra power :( Will cross that bridge when we come to it.

    • -2

What?! I will have to buy extra power? So it cannot be used out of the box?

      • -1

I have no idea?! I'm just going by what others are saying!

        • Why are we all yelling?!

  • +3

I bought it, not sure why!

Anyways here is what I found about this mic:

The Condenser Microphone only works with the device that could provide enough power (Voltage Required: 5V) for it:

    • When connected with desktop computer, the Mic could be used alone;
    • When connected with laptop computer, please connect the laptop to electrical outlet, or use a 48V phantom power to get enough power if the sound is not clear and high enough.
    • The microphone can not be used with mobile phone and tablet computer. Note: It cannot work with Mac.
    • If you want better sound effect, a sound card should be used. (Sound Card is not included).
    • When recording, please put the microphone away from the amplifier to prevent recording noise due to amplifier.
    • If your device could not provide enough power (when used with Amplifier or Mixer, etc.), the sound volume recorded might be low, and please use a extra 48V phantom power adapter to connect it.
  • Hesitated and missed it!

    • -1

Thats what happened to me many times, thats why I didnt this time. But still have no idea what to use it with and how.

  • +2

Better off getting the USB variant so you dont have to muck about with phantom power and ground loops.

    • Exactly my thinking after hitting the Place Order button

  • These don't just work out of the box like a headset mic. You need a little power/mixer box thingo.

    • More money to pour in, if and only if I can find, the so called phantom power thingy on Amazon. Maybe cancel order or return it?!

      • Depends on what you want to use it for. A mixer may be handy to use. If just online video chat stuff, USB built in is better.

  • +1

You don't want this one, you want the NW-7000 which is USB powered and doesn't need phantom power.

    • Shit, should i return this now.

    • Unless like me you happen to have 4 audio mixers at home that have phantom power built in. 3 of them will connect to PC via built in USB. But I missed the deal by seconds. Still I got the last one of a laptop deal recently for the missus, so I can't complain.
