I'll use this as an opportunity to warn people that Listerine is potentially quite bad for you. It might be effective in the short-term, but it dries out your mouth which potentially exacerbates issues with bad breath. I do not want to spread misinformation, but there's also been some studies to show that long-term use may be linked to oral cancer or increase your chances of it: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/31655832

But of course on their Listerine branded website they'll totally tell you it's completely fine! (https://www.listerine.com.au/does-listerine-cause-oral-cance…)

Personally I would not risk my health based on the words of a corporation like this. It's your call.

Correlation does not equal causation. If you have pre-existing conditions which would lead to your mouth being overly dry / reducing saliva production then stick to alcohol free variants (or use common sense and not more than twice a day). There is more than enough evidence showing mouthwash reduces gingivitis, plaque etc.

Listerine, Colgate, Oral-B etc. mouthwashes are all very similar in formulation.

Correlation can usually scare the lay-person who may not understand how studies are conducted. I often use the analogy about finding firemen at the scene every time there is a fire. Does that mean that they started the fire? It's possible that they did but there are also other causes to consider before coming to that conclusion e.g. accident, arsonist, natural disaster etc

Also, if you find that hundreds of fires are started by accident, does that mean all or most fires are started this way? Do all accidental fires lead to total destruction?
