Here are the major enhancements introduced in the HDMI 1.4 specification:

  • HDMI Ethernet Channel - Adds high-speed networking to an HDMI link, allowing users to take full advantage of their IP-enabled devices without a separate Ethernet cable.

  • Audio Return Channel - Allows an HDMI-connected TV with a built-in tuner to send audio data "upstream" to a surround audio system, eliminating the need for a separate audio cable.

  • 3D - Defines input/output protocols for major 3D video formats, paving the way for true 3D gaming and 3D home theater applications.

  • 4K Support - Enables video resolutions far beyond 1080p, supporting next-generation displays that will rival the Digital Cinema systems used in many commercial movie theatres.

  • Content Type - Real-time signaling of content types between display and source devices, enabling a TV to optimize picture settings based on content type

  • Additional Color Spaces - Adds support for additional color models used in digital photography and computer graphics.

  • HDMI Micro Connector - A new, smaller connector for phones and other portable devices, supporting video resolutions up to 1080p.

  • Automotive Connection System - New cables and connectors for automotive video systems, designed to meet the unique demands of the motoring environment while delivering true HD quality.

it's $6.95 not $3.99, unless you have you get pass the checkout screen

  • +1

    oops…updated
    Thanks for the negative :)

  • Went to 3.99 through checkout process. Good to see a bank transfer option.

  • Unless these are somehow better than the eBay ones, it's still cheaper on eBay for one sent from within Australia.

    • Those cables are pretty low quality and use a 30AWG wire gauge. Let's see what the REP has to say about these cables.

      • These are also 30AWG, at least from the description.

        • 30AWG is fine for 2m cables, thicker cables are needed as the length gets longer.

if they dont work, i will happily refund you. for short distances a 2m cable is perfectly fine

…unless your going to use it for a patch cable…

    • That listing is full of so many lies and mistruths it's not funny, and are likely not certified cables.

Better to get a certified cable from a quality supplier.

Edit: comment is in reference to the link on ebay link posted above.

  • asking for positive votes is against the posting guidlines!
    :P

    • you guys are good :)

      • Welcome to Ozbargain :)

        PS: good price…just ordered one.

  • what is the AWG of this cable? Lower AWG = higher thickness of the internal cable.

    • in the description 30awg cable

  • just ordered one. not the cheapest, but good price with bank tfr option!

  • Apparently all the cables from OZNETiCS have a lifetime warranty.

    Is that right, Rep?

    • Yep sure do.

      • Thanks for reply. In that case, I'm confident to buy 1.

  • Bought one. Hi Rep, any good deal on Optical Cable?

    • +2

There you go $7.95 for a premium 1.5m optical

  • send me an email and Im sure we can figure something out

Not sure why people want certified cables… a wire is a wire…. The only difference you might get is thickness of cable.

But Ethernet cables, which consist of 6 very thin wires, are usable for up to 90m. I don't see why there would be any issue over 2m, or 10m for that matter.

    • A certified cable means the manufacturer of the cable has been certified to make HDMI cables to a specific standard.

Non certified cables can be hit or miss, I have a 1.5m cable that won't carry 1080p, lower res it's ok but not 1080p.

For 10m HDMI it's best to go for 26 or 24 AWG.

Unfortunately HDMI cables are much more complex than Ethernet cables, you won't get HDMI at 90m without using expensive signal repeaters/amplifiers.

      • even at 15 meters the signal starts to degrade and can cause artifects / lose of quality

        as they say, 1's and 0's ain't 1's and 0's!

  • Just in time. was looking for a 1.4 compatible cable for my T27a950.

  • I just ordered 3! Thank you very much! This will go nicely with my Denon 2311 Receiver!

  • Ordered 5 as well.

  • Just ordered 2 :) How long will it take to ship/deliver? :)

  • majority was sent out this morning and those people have been notified. In sydney metro it should be next day, otherwise 2-3 days. All depends on aussie post

  • What on earth is a 1.4a Ethernet cable?

    • +1

The HDMI 1.4 spec allows for Ethernet over the HDMI cable, but there are no device that support this feature yet.

      • I was not aware of that. Thank you
