Recommendation for Gaming PC- Budget $1k

Hello, this is my first time posting here. I was planning to get a gaming PC that is not too expensive. I have a gaming laptop at the moment a MSI GE62 GQD Apache Pro. I basically play dota 2 most of the time and since cod warzone came out i’ve been playing with my friends. It can run it smoothly but on a low setting. Any recommendation where can a I buy a gaming PC that suits my budget and can run the said games on 1080 on medium to high settings. Not really good with technical terms in PC industry so if you guys can talk to me in layman terms that would be great. And also if its a good deal to trade my gaming laptop to fund my gaming PC.

Thanks!

If I had to build a PC right now for $1000 I would go with

    Cpu: Ryzen 3300x $205
    Motherboard: Asrock B450M-HDV $125
    Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 3200MHz C16 $150
Graphics Card: MSI Radeon RX 570 Armor OC, 4GB Graphics Card $240
Storage: Any 500 GB SSD $100
    Power supply: Thermaltake TR2 S 550W 80PLUS Power Supply $80
Case: Any you like the look of up to $100

    Total: $1000

I would not exactly recommend this pc though as it's probably better in the long run to stretch your budget a little bit more or wait until later in the year when prices have relaxed a bit and new generation cpu's and graphics cards have pushed current generation prices down.

    • Yeah its also a great idea but I don't know how to build one. I know there's lot of video tutorials but i'm afraid i might mess it up. Thank you for your reply though appreciate it.

      • I find linus tech tips build videos good to watch as they are usually entertaining rather than a mundane step by step guide. The more videos you watch the more comfortable you would be with building one however it's also understandable why you want a pre-built one because if something were to go wrong it can be difficult to diagnose why your pc is not booting. The techfast deal is a good choice and will run games faster than the system I suggested.

The $799 will be better but either works for 1080p high/ultra. These techfast deals are priced competitively with building your own PC (which you could also do if you're feeling adventurous and want better quality parts for a little more $!), and much much faster per dollar than retail stores.

You'll also want to buy some extra storage because they don't come with a lot. It's very easy to do, get the most you can afford. COD is a huge game, like 200GB itself. Here's a recent deal for some: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/537307. Get the sata version (big rectangle hard drive shaped ones, not the sticks) because I don't know if the very basic motherboards these come with support M.2

If you have any q's feel free to ask

(don't bother trading, just sell it on gumtree/ebay after you wipe or destroy the harddrive)

    • I've clicked on the deal and added a few extras such as 8gbRAM and 1TB hdd as well as changed the case to those who have 2 fans, will those ones make a difference when it comes to the game? I didn't mean running COD on ultra settings but at least on a medium to high unlike to what I am running with my laptop atm. I haven't bought from techfast before but does the pc comes with a pre installed OS and just plug and play or you need to set it up yourself? Really appreciate the suggestions.

Those are good choices, 8 GB of ram would have been limiting as the pc is usually using more than 8 GB of ram when you are in a game. Personally I would prefer upgrading to a 1 TB SSD rather than purchasing an extra 1 TB HDD as games run better on SSD's. It seems the pc will come pre-installed with windows 10 however you will need to purchase a key if you want to activate windows.

        • Thank you for your help mate. Everything's much clearer now :)

  • I have a computer I'm looking to let go of for 1k. Located in Melbourne. Happy to exchange deets if you are interested in taking this further.

    Specs are

    7700 Intel CPU
    GTX1070 Asus strix GPU
    16GB Ram 2133mhz
    256GB SSD Sandisk
    2tb HDD
550 Watt Be Quiet Power Supply

    Corsair Air240 case

Happy to throw in a coolermaster mechanical keyboard and logitech G703 if that sweetens the deal.
