Amazon International Swiching from FEDEX to Fastway?

Just wondering if anyone else has bought stuff in the last 2/3 weeks from the US using Amazon Australia's International Delivery (Spend $49 to get free international delivery).

I frequently buy things from the US, and it used to always arrive rather quick as they used FEDEX. I placed an order about 3-4 weeks ago and there was no issue. Once again, it arrived in 6 working days.

But last my 2 orders have gone through to Fastway (shudders), and now delivery is estimated to be over 1 month.

Has anyone else been affected by this too? Fastway is notoriously unreliable and it would be a shame if Amazon went down this route. Hoping it's just a temporary measure in light of COVID-19.

  • My US order (via AU site) was shipped last week with DHL. ETA in 3-4 weeks.

  • 2 orders made recently. Both were shipped to Aus through UPS (took 1-2 days to arrive in Aus) and then handed to Auspost for the final leg

Amazon has used fastway from the US before for me. I think they just use whoever, maybe it depends on the item.

  • My Amazon order is DHL and departed Chicago 3 weeks ago, no idea what happened after that.

Depends on various factors. I've had Fastway mostly, unfortunately. That said I've messaged them about something that has missed the deadline, got a refund and a couple days later it's shown up at the door. Sometimes it works in your favour, I guess.

  • I have been getting amazon international packages from fastway for about 8 months, not once have they actually delivered to the address, always to a connect point.

  • About 2 months ago I had a single parcel use FastWay, but before it even was passed onto FastWay all tracking stopped and it never arrived.

Every other delivery has been either Fedex or Aus Post for the last leg.

  • I am in Perth, and have made Amazon US orders (on Amazon AU website) in the last 2-3 weeks. All my orders were shipped using either UPS or DHL. All are received within 2 weeks, once shipped.

  • Thanks guys, I guess it's the luck of the draw. I suppose I should be lucky to have Fedex on previous occasions.

Here's hoping it goes to a connect point and onto AusPost for the final leg.

  • Amazon US has used fastway for majority of its shipment in the last couple of years already

I have to say it's really odd that Fedex has been used so much by Amazon recently… but boy am I thrilled with the quick post!
I purchased some Bosch tools from Total Tools in mid april and I still haven't got them, and they still haven't sent them!
I ordered the same tools from Amazon on the 10th of May… 3 weeks AFTER Total Tools, and I received them yesterday (Friday)…

Last week I had a delivery to an Amazon parcel hub. Fastway couldn't do the delivery. They aborted it and Amazon had to sort it out. It delivered a few days later. No explanations. I'm guessing the Fastway driver couldn't be bothered taking the drive down the Mornington Peninsula (in Vic) so he aborted.
