  • Is this a repeat of the cheapest price so far?

  • +1

I think this is a pretty standard price.

usually $54.99 on kogan site , $6 less. not a good sale.

  • Can these be flashed with tasmota for home assistant?

    • You don't need to if you use the Tuya app to set up the bulbs. Home assistant supports native Tuya integration.

      • +1

Tasmota or ESPHome flashed devices respond much faster than Tuya integrated ones.
Lately Tuya has updated its APIs and color management from HA bit difficult.

One advantage of Tuya integration is that bulbs could be ON but turning wall switch OFF and ON whereas once the devices are flashed, they could be managed by HA only.

These were listed at $42.99 a couple weeks ago. Not the cheapest we've seen.

  • does anyone have any general feedback on these and how they compare to the yeelinks?

    • +1

Never used yeelights but these are good and do the trick. Main downsides (very occasionally) go offline, unable to schedule different light settings - it just reverts to the previous, but it would be good to say have dark lights in the late evening, bright in the early evening. A lot of the settings on the app are nonsensical. Also, there's no location based stuff with your phone to turn on lights etc when you get home or leave.

On the upside, works flawlessly with Google Home and easy to set up. The scenes are actually good. And cheap.

Yeelights are way better. These are not very bright in comparison when I tried them in the colour mode. Also my ones reset and have to be reconfigured if I turn it off from switch and leave it off for more than a day

As above, the colours aren't very bright, but colours are just for novelty really… I have four, which I have set up with routines through the house.

Kitchen turns on at minimum at 6:20, dining room turns on at 7:30 for kids breakfast, they all turn off at 8:00

At night, I have a routine that turns them all off, turns my bedroom lamp on, and turns one light in the hallway to low blue, so I have something to navigate around that isn't too shocking to the baby's eyes when I have to get her up.

They're not as reliable as others are meant to be, but it's like comparing 99% up time to 99.5% uptime - my other lights are slightly better, but they were more expensive.

    • Are they cool white capable?

I ask cause I remember some other brand of RGB smart bulbs only did warm white for some wierd reason.

      • Mine can't really do a cool white. The most appropriate would be a really light blue, but that's not bright enough to do much with.

  • Might be worth fitting out my whole house with 3 sets, cheap enough anyway. Thanks OP

  • Will they fit oyster light covers? They seem to be too big
