Anyone ever heard of hotpromotiony.com - scam?

Promoted on social media as warehouse sale on LEGO

www.hotpromotiony.com

Some of the fine print is sketchy - prices are unrealistic. Want it to be true but not game to make a purchase.

Anyone got anything on them? Looks like they might have sold power tools in the past….

Why would anyone think that's a legit site?

  • +1

Prices too good to be true. No proper privacy policy and their email address is a generic one.

    Run away while you can.

    • The domain for their email was registered early May 2020. Not even 2 weeks old.

  • Do everyone a favour and report it as a scam too.

  • Do people actually believe things on social media?

    • +1

We still have 'influencers' so unfortunately, yes… People are fickle.

      • Are people actually, legitimately, stupid enough to believe that these people are not getting paid to shill whatever crap they are shilling?

        • Yes, get a scantily clad woman to post a picture holding a sample of your product and sales go through the roof. Or sit in front of a camera streaming yourself playing games and have people through free money at you. It's mind bogglingly depressing.

          • @Hybroid: It is quite depressing isn't it. It's a sad world at times.

@brendanm: You cruel, cruel man. How can you ignore her heartfelt plea? She has "nothing else going for me" :

'Everyone on TV is always talking about how everybody has lost their jobs and people can't pay for anything anymore, but I'm losing subscribers on OnlyFans and that's my main source of income,' sobbed Billie in a now-removed TikTok video.

She continued: 'I can't pay my rent, I can't work. Even if I was to go back to work, what am I meant to do? Strip clubs are all closed, you can't even be close to somebody because of social distancing.

'I have nothing else going for me, I have no other talent. I've got nothing else. I can't dance, I can't sing, I can't do anything. I don't understand what I'm supposed to do. I just want everything to go back to normal so people can keep subscribing.'

  • Scam

  • First place I checked was OzB.
I’m sure there’s people throwing money at it.

Most stores on Social Media are scams. Unless you're tech savvy, just avoid all, as there could be fake JB Hifi promos etc.
On top of that, the name of the store "hotpromotiony" … obviously targeted to the most gullible of the gullible non-tech savvy bunch.

  • Genuinely curious.

Are you by any chance around 60y.o?

    • +3

This is a boomer-shaming free zone sorry sir, please move along.

      • +2

I'm not shaming. Didnt you see, I mentioned curiosity. It's for science so it's okay.

    • +3

      I don’t use social media. I’m 40.
Someone asked me and I said I highly doubt it.
      🤷🏼‍♂️

      • Thanks for the answer.
