  Got this the last time it was free - i'm up to the second part of story mode (when you finish the both characters stories).

  Games a really good retro style JRPG hack n slash.
  There's still in app purchases for gems which can buy you extra equipment recipes, class, gold and for instant revival (comes in handy with boss fights) although you can also revive by watching an ad) none of which are really needed though.

  Best part is you can play as much as you like and are not limited to energy or anything like that and there's quite a lot of content. I'm probably 30 hours in or so and there's quite a bit to go in this second part to story mode.

  Has ads and in app. Do you need to pay to complete? And are the ads annoying?

    The free version of this has ads through the game.

    This is the premium version with no Ad's . The only ad there is is optional - if you die you can respawn then and there and continue where you left off (Full HP, Kinda like an extra life if you die) by watching the AD otherwise it'll load from last autosave (before you entered the room).
    In app's are for Gem's , can buy extra recipe's for weapons and armour / there's a super each character get's you can use gems for different skins for those and also to change classes.

    You don't need to spend anything to finish the game.
