Great for trailers which is what I need atm.

Just a thought, might cars at the wreakers be there in some cases because their tires were not that crash (pardon pun) hot

    • yeh, check the amount of tread left of course…how do people change their own tyres anyway?? 0.o

  • My car was written off one week after I had the tires changed. Some guy rear ended me at the lights. So someone might get a good deal from this or waste $1 entry fees

  • whole wheel or just tyres?

site doesnt say either - so would have to assume just tyres… if its just tyres you still need to get them fitted and balanced…

tyre places typically charge you $5 to dispose of your used tyres.
I admit you may pick up a good set for your trailer, but this doesn't sound like a good deal to me.

    Good for burnouts.

how do u get the tyres of the car if u can take the wheel?

    • I can't speak for Campbellfield, but Kilsyth has a tyre removal tool. You deflate the tyre, put it up on this device, and just press the tyre off. It's fairly easy.

And now that I'm thinking back, I can't remember why I used this last time….. I've never bought used tyres, maybe I needed a spare wheel? =/

plcaes like these, usually strip the tyres off and pile them in a big heap and you just come along and have a suss around.

be sure to check the tread levels, condition of the tyre walls, the tyre size (thats a no brainer) and the year it was manufactuered. this is particualary important, as most rubber tyres only have a good shelf life of 5 years.
you don't want to be buying good tread, 10 year old tyres.

personally, i wouuldn't mismatch tyres, as these are literally the only thing between your car and the road. buy all means get them for the trailer or spares or burnouts, but not for the family car.

    cavet emptor

    • great advice! just wanted to follow up my +1 as thats all you can really do…

not going to be 10 dollars well spent when someone gets hurt!

just to add to this post, all tyres are date stamped, but not in the normal format you would assume, eg DDMMYYYY

the format for tyres is WWYY (week + year)

so you have to look on the tyre for 4 digits. eg: if you see 1405, that means the tyre was made on the 14th week of 2005

most tyres have a life of 6 years, so dont get anything made before 2005
