Oakley Prescription Lenses. Are They Worth It?

I am looking for a pair of new glasses. Does anyone have any experience with Oakley prescription lenses. Are they worth the extra or something from Specsavers or similar will be exactly the same?

Thanks!

I have multiple pairs and can confirm they really are worth it. I have also had spec savers and the lenses don't even compare.

One of the things I don't skimp on is glasses. You've only got two eyes and there is no replacement.
Make sure it has the anti-reflective coating and the blue light thingy if you do a lot of computer.

I loved them until my script got out of their range that they could cut. That wasn't such a bad thing as they haven't had any decent styles in over 10 years.

    • Yup, my problem exactly. I think the cutoff was -4.5 last I checked

    • iirc if you opt for styles such as the flak with two separate lenses, they'll cut. if its like jawbreakers, nope, or they end u looking like bug eyes

  • I have Oakley clear prescription lenses and Oakley prescription sunglass lenses, they are the best hands down. They do cost an arm and a leg though.

  • I look at Oakley like I do at Apple - you overpay for quality. Sure, you can find a cheaper alternative for the same quality, but if you want to save time and effort just get Oakleys.

  • Gosh I always thought Oakley lenses were mid-tier garbage so never even tried.
I have quite a high power so have used various lenses. Best were Zeiss by far but after those were destroyed I've always settled for Essilors. Strange nobody ever recommended Oakley… and I get new glasses every year :s

    • Nikon is pretty good too!

Also in true Oz bargain fashion a little hack if you are going via health insurance…

Opsm (supplier of Oakley prescription lenses) often have a second pair at 50% off around Xmas and eofy. If your anniversary for your health insurance is June 30 trick is to place an order before that date utilising that year's rebate on the first pair, and then when you pick up the second pair in July use the new year rebate on the second pair which have been discounted by 50%. Essentially your using 2 years of private health rebate in the one transaction on top of additional discounts
Just softening the blow to the hip pocket a little.
