Bargain External Hard Drives

Looking for the best value external hard drive. Either 3.5" 2TB or 2.5" 1TB. All the good deals on ozbargain seem to be expired. Don't need or want USB 3.0 unless it is the same price as USB 2.0 (which it isn't)

  • yeah but they were $69 at BigW a week ago. Guess I gotta just keep my eyes peeled for when the next bargain pops up because the deals don't last more than about 15 minutes.

    cheers

  • +1

I purchased a ext WD 3.5" USB 3.0 1TB from DSE other day for $78.
I don't have usb3 atm but for the few bucks extra I thought it was worth having for the future.
Even running on my current usb2.0 I was surprised at how fast it is. Go the 3.0

" People who used to be happy with a speed of 480mbps (of USB 2.0) will scream with joy on knowing that USB 3.0 has a whooping 4.8gbps transfer rate."

  • I was really expecting that the 2.5" portable drives would have come crashing down in price once the usb 3.0 drives came out but sadly that never happened. The old usb 2.0 portable drives stayed at the same ridiculous prices… so I ended up getting the Seagate 2TB external hard drive from DSE for $79 because at the end of the day I value the extra space more than the portability.
