58S5 Hisense 58 INCH S5 4K UHD SMART LED TV

Hi Guys,
Just wondering if anyone knows if this unit is ok? I am looking for a 55-60 inch tv. Main purpose is free to air with the occasional nextflix type watch.

It looks to new to have any reviews, I know the motion rate doesn't look awesome but is it good enough? Price point after discount is cheap!

15% off with code "PHREEZE"

comes down to $675.75 + $55.00 for postage.

Please let me know your thoughts or if anyone has used or tested this panel.
Cheers

  • I would spend more and get a Samsung, Sony or LG
If you decide to go for Hisense due to funds, then go for the "R7" model

    • Thanks for response, yes due to funds I'm looking for best quality and performance for around $700-900.

I see some of the lower end Samsung, Sony and LG have that range but lesser specs than Hisense.

Question is for the money do you go a top end cheap model vs a low end brand name.

      • I would highly recommend to call JB Hifi and speak to a salesperson regarding their opinion as they sell these models.
Usually with Hisense, the top tier model is recommended over the mid-tier Samsung or Sony.
With a budget of $900 max, you can get a decent name brand like LG etc

        • OK Done a little research, what do you think of this model?
UA55TU8000WXXY Samsung 55 INCH UHD 4K SMART TV (NEW 2020 MODEL)

          • @uncydave: You wont go wrong with this model as it is higher tier and Hisense is not in the same league (even the R7)
            Cheers

          • @uncydave: do not get that shit mate, tu8000 is a downgrade from the ru7100

            • @striker5950: Is the ru7100 available?

            • @striker5950: Hi,
Yah I did some research on them and they definitely seems like a downgrade.

The model to get was the UA65RU8000, but this is only available at a premium. I have upped the budget to around 1000-1200 for a 65 inch now.

Seems the price difference for 55 to 65 is not much sort of doubles when you head towards the 75 inch.
By good I mean motion rate and quality of display etc…

Is there any good LG models at the moment in 65 inch around 1200?

              Thanks

          • @uncydave: The TU8000 is downgrade from RU, yes, and we don't like such kind of marketing.
But RU is more expensive, and out of stock.
I just walked in a JBHiFi yesterday, IMO 55TU8000 is good among $1000 S8 Hisense and Sony X70 models.

What do you mean… Is this unit OK???

Go into a shop and check it out.
Hisense has 3 years warranty so better than most

      Hi,
I am sorry "is the unit ok" is so hard to understand. Let me break it down for you.

I said it is to new and doesnt have any reviews that I can find.

Is this unit OK "meaning quality of picture, sound, performance etc…"

At the shops they will not half the time have a free to air antenna connected and they will probably have some tuned up demo playing via USB.

Not is it ok as in "emotionally unavailable/potentially depressed"

      Sorry for the confusion.
