    Some of the pictures have the SFP slots as combo ports, others they are separate. Might be a different revision of the switch in the vendor style pictures.

    Otherwise looks nice and affordable for a 24 port managed gigabit switch. Good find.

    edit: fanless and limited lifetime warranty. I would get 2 if I didn't already have a pair of similar switches at home.

    • im a newbie with network switches .. can you please let me know what would be some use cases for me at home. .. if you have some free time .. thank you..

        as a switch, literally that's what it does.
        Plug you router in one port and all ports get access to the internet.

        I use an HP Procurve at home.

        the 'managed' side of things I have never used

        • Same. HP fanless procurve L2/L3 gigabit 24port lifetime transferrable warranty SFP blah blah..

          It all sounded good on paper. It even worked great. But I never bothered to manage it.

          Been meaning to sell mine for a couple years now, don't have a house wired up with ethernet any longer.

        Plug more things in!

      • copied from my reply in another thread:

        Sorry if I didn't make it quite clear. Think of a switch as a powerboard but for your network instead.
        A managed switch is aware of it ports and let you manage/monitor each one individually plus advanced features.

      • If you're asking about the SFP slots, it allows you to connect this switch to another switch using either copper or fibre for faster connections. Otherwise, the bandwidth bottleneck would be the ethernet cabling between the 2 switches if alot of devices were communicating between the 2.

        No offence, but if you need to ask what a networking switch does, chances are good that you don't need one at home.

        • Haha .. i mean i know generally what it does .. but just wanted to know some use cases of other people ..u never know ..and none taken

      • You wouldn’t need to use managed switch at home. However, you can use it in the office to segregate the network. As an example, you want a seperate network for your devices and another network for your guest.

      • Well, in the good old days where online games are not that popular, you will need one of these to host a LAN party…. :D Yee…..

        • Good times. WoW days..

        • Back in the old days we used hamachi for lan

      • for a managed switch you can utilise 'bonding' feature on NAS that turns 2 network connection into a single one to double the network transfer speed on the NAS, you cannot do 'bonding' on an unmanaged switch

    • It is pretty rare to see fanless rack mount switches. Nice for home use I guess especially if you live in an apartment and dont have a dedicate space of servers.

      • Fanless is always worthwhile. Who wants to hear the 40mm fan(s) or care what happens if it fails?

    • i brought 1 Wednesday @$100.95 with a $10 in app discount. thought it was an ok deal at that price.
      just online chatted with Amazon, gave me back difference in credit. great deal so share with ozbargain.
      the post man just dropped it off. it's a GS724T v4, comes with a Australian plug.
      i dont know too much about the SFP slots. but i uploaded a close up for you to have a look at.

      • Hi, how do you online chat with Amazon Australia? Can find the link

    • Amazon claims it's a 'GS724T-400AJS', which (according to the data sheet):

      GS724Tv4: 24-port 1000base-T Gigabit Smart Managed Switch
      * 24 Gigabit copper ports
      * 2 dedicated SFP ports
      * Fanless

  • Just missed out, price up to $199 in cart

  • got the unavailable message as i swiped to buy :(

  • damn, back to 199

  • wow gone so fast :(

    • 2nd hand ones everywhere, better models come up all the time, and the managed aspect of many Netgears isn't anywhere near as good as a an HP or a Cisco in terms of security or features.

      Beware though, with all these rack mount switches, if using at home, the fans can be very noisy, even when new.

      This is the first I've seen that is managed and fanless! I've a previous JGS524. I removed the PSU when it failed and converted it to use 5VDC from an 8A external power supply. It's great because the fans don't ever come on, so it's dead silent too.

  • Is this PoE? The only mention i see it a tick in the comparison table for "select models"

    • No PoE

    • It's not POE.

      24 port POE managed switch for double this price would be a bargain. So no.

  • I have this switch configured with a few VLANs. Definitely a steal at this price.

  • what a blow, I've been eyeing off 16 port managed switches to segregate my iot/cctv/guest and primary networks. this switch came in cheaper for a brief moment in time. grrr.

  • FWIW I bought one of these 8 years ago now from "estore" (who ceased trading in 2016 and is now part of HT) for more than double this price, although it did come with a bonus of a stack of ethernet cables. Anyhow, is still going strong. Only minor pain is the web interface is pretty ancient even with the latest firmware that runs on mine, although this is likely a newer version with firmware…. it's not like I look at it a lot though. Definitely a bargain - even for a home, being able to do things like play with QoS can be nice.
