List of Aussie Made Deals

I think the Self Isolation Deals by hamza23 has been really useful. Given the current climate of hostility by the CCP to our economy and the CCP democracy crackdowns in HK, I think we should fight back by promoting Aussie Made products (ie. Aussie Made Deals list) and maybe also promote products that do not benefit the CCP (ie. Non-CCP Deals list). I know many things are unfortunately made in China and directly (like Huawei, DJI and ZTE) or indirectly benefit the CCP but I think having these lists would still be useful for those of us who want to enjoy a bargain and still contribute to the cause.

BTW, I want to clearly distinguish the CCP (brutal totalitarian government) from the Chinese people (a wonderful people/culture which I myself am a part of).

I'd like to know what the ozbargain community thinks about this proposal and if anyone is willing to champion either the Aussie Made Deals or Non-CCP Deals. Unfortunately, I myself won't be able to maintain such lists as I am still working full time and have major family commitments (wife, kids, dog and even live-in mother-in-law).

the current climate of hostility by the CCP to our economy

    What does that mean?

Australia is a country that has contributed to the murder of ten million innocent people as it attacked nine countries illegally since Afghanistan. It has zero moral authority because of these war crimes. China is not the world's most prolific war criminal like Australia and the USA.

It records all metadata of citizens for two years under a widely abused system, maintains a website block list, arrests journalists for revealing illegal Government activity and special forces war crimes while it's citizens dribble crap about China being a police state.

The entire country is illegally monitored by it's own Government under the Five Eyes agreement while it's citizen's dribble garbage abvout China being a police state.

    • Why do you suggest looking at ourselves when it's so much easier to criticize someone else?

    • Gee. Getting popcorn for this thread. No wonder why the take up of the Covid App is so low.

I find it funny how the government has just realised wow. Aus manufacturing. Concept. Ie that more med face masks should be made here as only 1 company is in that market. We just aren't compedative enough price wise generally due to high labour costs, but maybe in specialist areas we can be.

You are concerned about brutality and democracy but don't mention countries like Saudi Arabia or the USA. You didn't mention boycotting French products because of the treatment of the yellow vest protesters. How about Australia's role in supporting dictators in Indonesia and general disregard for democracy if it threatens corporate profits? Are you going to boycott Australian products as well?

Just like most governments, ours is not in favour of democracy, but in economic power. We are only symbolically opposed to China due to our stronger political alliances with the USA and UK. This is all about politics and nothing to do with democracy.

Edit: your idea that a boycott would harm the government but not the people is childish. How did that work out in Cuba and Iraq? How are US sanctions going in Syria, Venezuela, Iran, and Russia? And you're concerned about brutality, LOL.

  • I want to buy Australian products and Australian made goods before stuff made overseas. Dunno how realistic it would be to have an Australian deal list but I would support it.
