Need Help Selecting A Big TV

Recently moved into a place which has enough space to fit a ~75" to 86" TV. It will be our first ever big TV purchase. Our budget is roughly ~$2000

It's obvious we can't afford the expensive OLED or QLED in this size. Really confused with all the different brands and experiences people have shared. Also haven't seen many good deals coming on recently.

We do want a longer than 1 year warranty period/good customer service provider, good sharp display colour saturation etc, ability for light gaming without alot of lag and good inbuilt software. Energy rating needs to be good. Not really very particular towards anything 8K but we do think that gradually more and more content will become 4K down the line. We are also okay with older models as long as they are good and in a good price point.

Our current TV is a dumb $200 32" no brand Chinese LED connected to a non-4K Chromecast and a $40 Logitech computer speakers. This setup has been going strong since 2016.

I pick up a TCL 75 inch from Good guys for $1160 +
TCL 2.1 Channel Sound Bar TS7010 for $195 @ Retravision

    Great low budjet setup.

    • Thanks mate. I have looked up some TCL specs online. The P8MR looks very interesting. 3 Year manufacturers warranty, Android TV, 4K, 100Hz refresh rate, Built-in Chromecast, Dolby Atmos + Vision, Headphone Output, Bluetooth. The price point is < 1.3K for 75" and lowest ever on OzB is $1036 which is even better. I will go instore and check out the screen quality.

      Any experience with warranty claims?

      • I have been looking at that TCL as well. I had a look instore and picture quality looked good for the price, have heard a few people had issues/bug with them but 3 year warranty just take it back i guess.

I have read quite a few bug/issue horror stories on productreviews.com.au

          • @bigbadboogieman: My old 50" TCL is about 6 years old and still works great as a secondary TV. I haven't encounter any issues so far, finger cross.

@[Deactivated]: Ok so this happened…. Not sure where I am going to get the extra $900 yet but ¯_(ツ)_/¯ the sales person was quite good… He sold me everything (and I had only gone to look at TCL)

JB Hi-fi In-Store "negotiated" deal. Unsure if good or bad but thought I can post here:

              • EZYMOUNT VLM6600B XLARGE Full Motion $220.00

@bigbadboogieman: You scored a juicier Deal. Well done.
Just throw a 5.1 wireless soundbar in there as well. :)

82" thats would be too big for my lounge i reckon.

@[Deactivated]: Guess it rubs off on you when you're part of the OzB community :)

                • @[Deactivated]: It got installed today. Man it's like eye-gasm… Now after I pay off the $900 excess I have to look for a good wireless sound bar.

              • @bigbadboogieman: When did you get this?

RU model? 82 inch for that price seems a steal!

Are you able to share details? I would get that deal!

                • @uncydave: Hi mate. Samsung RU8000 82" but they would only sell in that price if I bought the installation from JB. They only had 19 showing all across Sydney yesterday evening in the main warehouse and the TV was marked for clearance as it's last year's model.

Apparently they are under the pump to sell installations which they can't discount. I got the expensive mount because I wanted to move the TV to plug stuff in the back when I wanted otherwise they were happy to sell me the $50 flat mount. The RRP on this mount was $499, the surge protection socket was $129 and Warranty was $203 but all was discounted to meet me at 2.9K.
