Please Advice on buying Hisense 65s8 tv for $1495

I don't know much about technical things and features in Tvs. Till now I have put off buying Hisense because they don't have Amazon prime video. This new 2020 TV have prime video. Also TV will be opposite to large window. Will this be ok in bright room. Open to suggestions for another brand. My budget is around $1800 for 65inchtv.
Thanks

Please, Advice on buying Hisense 65s8 tv for $1495

Please Advise on buying Hisense 65s8 tv for $1495

  • I wouldn't be deciding on a TV based on whether it has Amazon prime or not. Just get a Chromecast if its an issue. If the window is too bright, get curtains.

Actually it's handy having these things built in. Plus Youtube app can be great, getting 4K when Google doesn't allow 4K on certain external hardware because of a codec war.

      • Handy, sure. But it's not what's going to convince me to buy one tv or another.

    • I would prefer built in feature instead of adding additional device. I used android devices before. Almost all needs upgrade after 12 to 18months.

  • I don't see anything about backlighting in the info, so I'm guessing it doesn't have any kind of zoned backlighting. Picture could still be great though but I couldn't go back to a traditionally backlit TV anymore, if not an OLED or probably micro LED TV in the future.

  • I'd get a 55inch LG OLED instead.

Can get a samsung on eBay via Appliances Direct at the same-ish price with the latest 15% off deal

    • Which model?

        TU8000

  • AFAIK Hisense have had Prime Video for ages, along with Netflix and Stan. The main issue is that since its not Android TV, support for other services, etc. is spotty

    • Only 2020 Tvs have prime video

      • Well, my 65R7 has it ….

        • You are right, girl at Harvey Norman told only 2020 have prime video. Thanks

  • S8 has similar specs to the older R6 (which has been priced around $700 plus delivery), not the R8 is one might think. Also see: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/537092

  • I have one of these that I bought for around this price back in August based on great reviews and specs. I'm not overly impressed with it even compared to my Aldi Bauhn TV. It inexplicably freezes from time to time and I've called the service desk for software upgrades which have fixed it for now. Has Amazon Prime (sometimes delays between sound and image, Netflix is flawless) and sits adjacent to a bright window (I prefer the blinds drawn down). In retrospect I wish I went for a 75 inch in another brand but $$$.

    • What was your second choice for tv brand?
Now I am thinking not to go for hisense due to lip sync as you mentioned. I mostly watch prime video.Probably Samsung will be safe bet. I have LG from last 7 years without issues, but want to go for another brand hoping to get better than lg
      Thanks

      • Samsung was my second choice and next time I'll wait until they're on sale. I may just have a lemon with my Hisense but the good thing is that it has a 3 year warranty so once I go through the process I'll decide then. On the other hand my Bauhn tv from Aldi just won't die and the screen is not far behind my Hisense one and no lagging via Chromecast.

  • The 65inch s8 is $1346 on Good Guys commercial

  • its edge lit and it was cheaper last week like 1300 from ebay
people reporting on this like the guy above who says he bought in in august, this came out last month it wasnt even around in august.. be that as it may. i wont touch anything without any reviews. and this tv does not have any reviews yet, maybe the lip sync issue is there and maybe not.

    • It is in fact 2020 model.

  • Get a q8. Is direct lit full array. Just dropped so if you wait a bit prices should drop below 2k
