Greetings

Hi, my name is Jaxx and I'm a shopaholic.

Been shopping online since 1997, started with DVDs from overseas and getting them for next to nothing. Due to the dot com boom back then, every store wanted your business and were desperate to get it!

I'm 35, married and have twin boys who are 7 months old. They keep us very busy and as a result we don't get out of the house much at all. This is where shopping online has saved us so much, we just don't have time to go browsing any more! Sometimes, I miss just walking down the mall window shopping.

I'm an IT designer/engineer and work from home mostly, so I'm on the computer at least 8 hours a day (plenty of time to find bargains! :) )
I'm into gadgets like you Scotty, also baby stuff, clothes, homewares and PC gear.

Finally, I'd like to say thanks for starting this site (and the others), we're way behind the US in terms of coupons and bargains, hopefully this site will start to bring all of that together.

  • Hi Jaxx!

Congratulation on the twin boys! Personally I found babies can be one of the biggest spender at home — just look at how expensive their toys and furnitures are! Shop wisely can save you a lot of money, and me and my wife learnt it the hard way 2 years ago :) Fortunately we have lots of friends with babies so we naturally "inherited" quite a few things so we didn't have to buy a new set of everything.

However I guess twins are different. Somehow you have to buy everything twice, the same colour, same style, etc.

Btw, how do you find working at home? For me it would be too much distractions to work on my side projects like this than to actually do some "real work" :)

    • Thanks Scotty :) The boys have definitely added a huge percentage to the family budget!

We try to take advantage of the fact that they're twins whenever we can, at most baby shops they have a policy to give an automatic discount if you have twins :) If it's not policy, then just mention it and most of the time they feel sorry for you and give you 10% anyway! :)

There are pros and cons to working from home, but the best thing is that I can share the workload of looking after the babies. It's a lot of work. (I don't know how single mums with multiples do it!) I am lucky in that my job is not super demanding, i.e. I can pretty much work when I want, if I'm busy during the day, I can do it at night, etc. I can work wirelessly in bed if I wanted to! You don't have someone looking over your shoulder, no work politics to deal with, no travel which saves lots of $$$, no foodhalls, and the list goes on. If you can do it, I certainly recommend it :)
