Please Help Me Find Correct Stereo Convertor Cable for a Suzuki Swift 2008

I finally bought a cheap (and I mean cheap) stereo for my car.
https://www.banggood.com/IMars-7023B-7-Inch-2-DIN-Car-Stereo…

I cant say i'm experienced or skilled with car stuff - especially tinkering with stereos.
That said, thanks to YouTube i've managed to remove the old unit. Not so tough.

My new problem is to find the correct adaptor from the Swift to the new unit. Which is a new (ISO) standard by the looks of things?
So with some googling - there seems to be alot of choices. So i dont know what i'm buying is correct…
Like with most purchases - i would like it Australia based (as i'm impatient, like we all are), without paying through the nose.
But it would be nice to have the steering wheel controls working too.

I've contacted a couple of online auto stereo stores - who havent yet replied.
Please can someone help guide me to find what i'm looking for?

  • Have you at least gotten a photo of the back of the Swift radio or of the Swift’s radio harness plug so we can see what the plugs look like from there?

    • No problem - i can get a pic (i thought they were standard)

Aerpro are the brand most of the car stores like Supercheap stock so I'm sure if you check the Aerpro site they'll have a catalogue you can look up to work out what harness you need.

  • Interested to hear your feedback on a 50 $ stereo.

    • That’s what I thought, but the store has over 590+ ratings and almost all of them are 4 or 5 stars… Must be ok for the price…

      • Please do not stop car's engine before the product's power was turned off, otherwise the product will reset to factory setting.

Lols in cheap cheap. So you have to power it down every time you want to turn the car off?!

This thing is gonna be a headache and guaranteed it'll be swapped out within 6 months.

For something you want to use on a daily basis, I dunno why people scrimp on these. You're in the minority if it lasts the test of time

    • oh for sure - its a gamble. but it did get good reviews

  • Apparently i need a primary and secondary harness according to frankiesautoelectrics? I would of thought i just need the one additional cable?

You need one that converts the suzuki to a universal, then the universal to the brand of head unit generally. But since you have some no name brand, it's a bit trickier. What does the slot on the back of the banggood one look like? [edit - scratch that the photo you provided is of the new one - which is the ISO fitting so you will only need one]

Looks like this one is the right one (but triple check!):

    • Yeah was thinking that - but dont think the steering wheel control would work. Worth a go for $15 though

They may. It depends on the head unit. The steering controls seem to be on that swift controlled by a single wire. The controls would need to be learned by the head unit. All depends if the new head unit has the capability.

        • Thanks for that - ordered

Just do the wires yourself, cut and solder the new harness into the old harness wires. Might take you an hour.

    • Was gonna say, all that time and hassle and it could've been done by now

    • That takes some knowledge and confidence. Plus if you mess it up - no going back

      • All you need are the pinout diagrams, even if you dont have them you can figure out what the wires are with a $9 multimeter. YouTube is your friend.

        • I had to google what a multimeter is :)

          • @6000SUX: Then you should probably pay for install and buy something locally because this kind of product isn't for you.

            • @Mechz: I agree - hence why i'm favouring convertors over your idea of cutting wires etc

    • nice one - will do
