At this price,Talisker(closer to distiller's edition) and Lagavulin(closer to 8yo) are the only decent drops in this collection IMHO. All other brands/houses have better offerings in their standard entry level whiskies.

    • The Oban's Bay is quite nice

      • -1

Whisk(e)y is so subjective and I am not a massive fan of Oban (cringe)

All these GoT release should have been priced closer to 75-80$ to represent any kind of value in the first place. Such a great example of sneaky and smart marketing. They created artificial shortage when the last season was due, people spent few hundred bucks on Clynelish(not originally available in Oz) to complete their sets.

        • The e in whisky makes it Irish, these are all Scottish.

          • @King Steuart: My point was to whisky/whiskey in general being personal prefernce, whether Scottish/Irish/American/World. Well aware GoT are scottish and spelled whisky.

Bought 12 bottles of Lagavulin from Sylvania NSW for pickup (and 6 others for delivery!) - hopefully they have them all in stock - very good price at around $60 after $10 off and 6.5% cashback. Never seen a Lagavulin this cheap! Thanks OP…

It's not the 16yo you know..

        • All refunded….1st choice refused the orders using the TENOFF code - nothing in the terms and conditions for the offer, but in other terms and conditions on the site they state promo codes can only be used once per customer. Probably for the best anyway!

    • +1

For what it's worth, here are the GoT whiskies ranked
TL;DR Talisker, Lagavulin, Clynelish come out on top

  • +1

What was normal price? Were these $80 a pop?

edit: looks like it after a few clicks.

    • A bunch of them were ~100 and others were ~130

  • -1

I would buy 1 at 17% off, but it's not enough of a discount to push me into buying 3.

    • thinking the same. 3 bottles of what is probably entry level stuff is just too much.

      • -1

lol these are more for collecting. Plus they will go up in value over the years and when they eventually reboot the series/do prequels and whatnot

        • there will be new products for when they make new shows. it’s a brand like any other.

          • -1

            @ltwo: Umm not liquor mate.

Releases get numbered, new releases will have new labels/packaging. That's not how collecting works.

Look at a few main stream liquor collections off the top of my head at 6am lol

Why is wild turkey master keep #1 more expensive than #3?

Why is Jack Daniels Distillers range #1 more expensive than #5?

Even if they do bring out new GoT bottles, they won't look like these.

    • Need TA or gotyourback to provide a little bonus cashback ;)

  • Pretty decent pricing on some of the bottles, unfortunately nothing available in WA.

    • I just picked up some of the discounted champagne that was on ozbargain last week from Liquorland Burrendah and there were several bottles behind the counter for sale but I didn't look too closely at them so don't know what varieties were left.

      • Managed to find them stocked at some Liquorlands and Vintage Cellars as per OP description that are accessible to me.

Did GRRM inform the whiskey makers what characteristic whiskey from each region of Westeros should have?

    • These all came from north of the wall really.

  • -1

and where were these during Season 8?

    • +2

The first batch of these were released before S8 aired but sold out relatively quickly.

    • I bought my entire collection when it first released in Australia (minus House of Tyrel because at the time that wasn't being brought into Australia due to Tyrell Wines). The receipt for the sale was 18th March 2019.

Game of Thrones season 8 premiered 14th April 2019.

So these whisky collection came out 1 month prior to season 8.

Where were you during Season 8?

  • +2

Stacks with tenoff code for $10 and 6.5% pre GST through cashback
Only Cardhu and Dalwhinnie (1 bottle per order!) seem to be available in NSW

    • +1

      Lagavulin too

      • I got 3 pack of laga for collect in ACT without issues

        • For delivery only Cardhu and Dalwhinnie - just had a look at other stores and found others ;) - Was looking for Lagavulin OR Talisker..Cheers

Great tasting from the start of the bottle.

Middle section is palatable, but the dregs at the end of the bottle will leave you with a great sense of disappointment and wishing you'd never tasted any of it.

Had a port goonbag like that the other week. First goony I've bought in years, and likely last for a few years too…

    • +2

It's OK a few of us got it.

      • Unless this is a metaphor for life itself, I have missed it.

        • They are describing how the series performed as a whole.

          • @yesitisme: Facepalm. I wonder what else about the world just whizzes above my head?

  • +2

Got the Lagavulin, Clynelish and Oban with tenoff and cashrewards. Even if they're not as good as the standard bottlings for about $60 each I'll give it a crack to see if they stack up the the core ranges

  • -1

    They're all sold out

    • No there's plenty, some online and more on stores.

  • Plenty of stock in stores - that does not show up online. Call and check.

  • Is it just me or sydney there’s no stock anymore?
