How Good Is Portable Projector Ie BW-VP1-Pro-LCD? Anyone Has Similar Good Cheap Projector? Need Some Reviews. Thanks

hi this looks good, i am tempted to put this on bedroom, streaming youtube etc to the bedroom wall from my android before sleeping.
and yes my budget is only $100ish cant afford $300 and i dont need 4K quality, and screen size wise ideally i want 40-50 or 60"

https://www.banggood.com/Newest-VersionBlitzwolf-BW-VP1-Pro-…

question:

  1. what are the range of distance between projector and wall that will give decent result? will it still good with 5-6 meters between wall and projector? or how about less 1 meter away, possible?
  2. can i put the projector at an angle ie not directly 90 degree against/in front of the wall?
  3. why it has hdmi plug, i mean we can just plug in mobile phone directly to the TV with micro USB to hdmi cable for example.
  4. what are things i need to look at when buying this kind of small projector? thanks.

edit:
found the non pro version (not sure what are the differences) but this page has lots reviews/youtube
https://www.banggood.com/Blitzwolf-BW-VP1-LCD-Projector-2800…

Edit2:
so BG confirmed that the presale is for PRO version which has wireless screen mirroring for apple and android (plus with apple you can go wire, not sure why android cannot).
and yes this is real presale, cannot find anywhere / any review of the pro, on aliexpress amazon etc etc.
but as one mentioned below, we can buy the ones without screen mirror feature and plug in chromecast (if the projector has USB plug of course)

cheers.

    1. This information can be found in the description of the product page that you linked.
    2. It doesn't have to be exactly 90 degrees, but has to be around there, to fix the distortion "keystone correction" the product page has information about this device's keystone correction. There are different projectors called "short throw" projectors which can be placed directly below the white screen and work, this is not one of those.
    3. It has a HDMI plug so you can connect devices like Xbox's, DVD players and such. The product description shows how phones can be connected, but for android it cannot be wired.
    4. No personal experience.

Not 100% this is the new version, but amazon US has reviews. Looks very similar in the pictures, thats all I've gone on.

    https://www.amazon.com/Proyector-BlitzWolf-proyector-distanc…

    • cheers will read up soon

      • and to answer Q4, amazon US recommends a screen which i didnt think would have such a great price. I'd also look at some projector mounts, like a small tripod, or something so you can project onto your ceiling if you have unobstructed (no light fittings) ceiling. As per the product description, 3m distance would be recommended, 6m not so much.

Unless you have a good size room, and you can sit a decent distance away from the projector, theyre not worth buying. you should sit 1m back for every 10 inch of screen (previous recommendation).

Modern android phones can connect to it wirelessly. Same as using a google chrome.

        Looks like a good find!

        • "recommends a screen which i didnt think would have such a great price."
sorry i lost here. a screen? edit oh buy a screen not using a wall?

          • @CyberMurning: The screens, offer a better surface than the wall. I owned a projector 15 years ago now, and it looked better on an actual screen than a wall, because the screen is designed to reflect the lights and colour better. Because these projectors are very simple quality, its not an issue. Have a look on youtube about the difference. If you have perfect white walls/ceiling, dont worry about a screen.

            • @DarthAntz: hmm never imagine of watching something on/from the ceiling this could be interesting.

360 degrees horizontal and vertical keystone correction for breaking limit of placement

WTF? That is physically impossible? Or it is a translation error? The one I've seen only have +- 15 degrees vertical correction…if you want horizontal correction, you have to pay a butt load more.

Edit: further down it says +- 20 degrees

    • oh i see this is what it means by placing not exact 90degree in front wall.

I have used exelvan $180 projector before.
    5-6 m gives 100 inch image-quality is ok
    1m distance- not possible
Fan noise is common in cheap projectors
Costs can add up for mount/tv box etc
    Tinny sounding built in speaker
Better choice is cheap android TV or old tv with chromecast for 'bed room' with ceiling or wall mount

    • Costs can add up for mount/tv box etc
this one has screen mirror feature so i can load up anything on mobile phone and cast them ie amazon video, youtube Netflix etc

hmm put tv on the wall is not an option also even cheap tv could be over $300.

Bought this one a month ago and use my old DSLR camera tripod to project onto our bedroom ceiling. Was a mother's day present, mostly being used by 4 year old daughter during covid though 😂

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/283757138341

I went with this one because it had Android and wifi.

Can connect Bluetooth mouse and keyboard to it which is handy. If I try and connect Bluetooth speaker also, it craps itself and loses wifi

    Issues:
    - it's 480p, despite descriptions
    - Netflix and YouTube sometimes crap out and buffer indefinitely, have to turn it off and on again to get it working again.
    - Can't get wireless miracast to work with my phone (might need an app or something)
    - Cable connection mirroring/Dex with phone works, but sound still comes from phone, so I have to connect a Bluetooth speaker to my phone as a work around (maybe a setting, but I dunno)

      thanks.
yeah must careful buying chinese stuffs, i only buy reputable brands ie xiaomi baseus etc.
damn so many generic projectors, usually blitzwolf are good but i found on aliexpress exact item under brand kabidu. i hope blitzwolf not turning into some white label company

      • Yeah, it does the job for the price, just minor annoyances. I'm guessing if I increased my budget by 100%, the minor issues would not exist, but didn't want to risk it.

I do like the Blitzwolf brand, so that's a plus for the one you are looking at in my books. But I would like one with Android and wifi personally.

I plugged my chromecast into my one and some things didn't work or had no sound, was weird.

        • yes i almost decided to get because the brand blitzw, but then saw this same box (not the pro) under diff. brand - exact 100% same thing.
at least there are many (good) reviews from around 8 months ago for the non pro, but as the mirroring is new feature i am also taking gamble on it.

here. kebidu (not pro, ie no mirroring)
          https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4001063113351.html

    • How did you test it's 480p? the youtube reviews look decent though compared to other 480p projectors.

  • OP, if you purchased this product I would really appreciate an update when you receive it. I am considering purchasing it but it's very hard to find reviews.

    • no i havent bought it. still thinking.
lots review on youtube, but yes the older model but i guess not much different except new model can mirror with mobile phone

      • +1

        hey OP!
wondering which projector you went with?

        • nope havent bought yet…. maybe will not…

          • @CyberMurning: if you don't mind me asking, were there any reason why? are you gonna opt for a normal tv instead?

            • @emboon: not sure how good it will be, will i happy with it or not, how often i will be using it, afraid it will collecting dust after 2 weeks…. etc etc

but if i will buy i will stick with this kind of good chinese brand not random ebay stuffs. see the above post, someone not happy buying from ebay for non brand.
i have 3 or more blitzwolf brands gadgets at home and i am happy with them

              • @CyberMurning: The non-pro vp1 is currently ~$95 => ~$110 landed with gst
I'm taking a gamble that i can live with native 720p and chromecast input.

                https://www.banggood.com/Blitzwolf-BW-VP1-LCD-Projector-2800…

                • @waywardtoaster: oh so you plug in a chromecast on one of the USB slot and then you can cast from mobile phone like the pro model?
hmm smart idea if works and you have spare chromecast

                • @waywardtoaster: those figures are in USD right?
Mine's showing up the pro version at 138aud and non-pro at 132aud

                  • @emboon: not sure about that figures but since i have posted i think i saw it drop a bit, then up and down again with the cheapest around AUD 124ish if i recall correctly. this is for the pro.

yeah sometimes the non pro is more expensive. weird
if you save it in wish list or leave it in the cart i think they will email you when price has changes

                    • @CyberMurning: thanks I will try that. There's a new user coupon so that helps too.

  • BGAFFVP1
Just came across this coupon code supposedly for aud$97
Plus GST and shipping I assume.
No idea if it'll work for anyone else.
    For the VP1

I purchased the VP1 Pro from the Banggood AU warehouse. They use Fastway, so it took two weeks to get from Sydney to Adelaide. For $130 the projector meets all my expectations. Image quality is good, colour reproduction is decent, volume is good. Wireless mirroring from my phone (Realme 6) was very laggy. Wired mirroring was better, but still laggy and too irritating to use. iOS users may have a better experience, but I don't have one to test with.

I've uploaded some pictures to Imgur for those who are curious: http://imgur.com/gallery/LEeINDZ

I'm using it here in less-than-optimal conditions. The projector is around 2m from the wall. The wall I'm projecting onto is grey/blue, textured, and of course the lines in the brick are visible. There is a lamp in the room, and a light on in the kitchen which spills into the living room.

Projected onto a flat white wall, from around 1m away, in a completely dark room you would get a very good picture and absolutely decent sound for the price IF your source is a USB, laptop, gaming console, etc. Screen mirroring from Android is not good on this unit.
