Typically it shows a pink grapefruit character, concentration and mid-palate texture, which reflect the carefully selected sites and hand harvesting during the small window of perfect ripeness. The 2019 has intensity of flavour and is particularly bright, fresh, and balanced.

Nick Bulleid – Gourmet Traveller Wine Online – January 2020

2019 Shaw + Smith, Adelaide Hills has a fine, perfumed nose with wild flowers and slight grassiness. There’s a touch of sweetness on entry, although the wine is effectively dry. The palate is soft and round, with beautiful freshness. “Well balanced, with floral, pyrazine (grassy) characters, citrus and a little rose,” noted Curkovic. “Elevated acidity, with flesh, balance and harmony.” This is so easy to drink.

Top New Release Australian Whites – Gourmet Traveller WINE – December/January issue

From a difficult year, Shaw + Smith has managed to produce a very creditable sauvignon, which may not be a cracker like the ’18, but isn’t far behind. Pale hued, with a lifted tropical fruit aroma leading into an intense palate of lemon and lime over tropical notes. 93 Points.

Angus Hughson – WISH Magazine – November 2019

A classic Adelaide Hills sauvignon blanc although a little bit more restrained in 2019, with bright guava and citrus fruits driving a zesty, lightweight palate making for an enjoyable and early drinking style.

James Halliday – Wine Companion – October 2019

Light straw-quartz hue. Not the easiest of vintages, but you’d never know it given the intensity, the resonance and length of this vibrant, juicy wine. The 30th vintage, and I buy the back label comment ‘the wine is better now than at any time in our 30 years’. 95 Points

wine for 5$ can be better than wine for 40$, its all a matter of taste and the occasion and the company.
final effect will always be the same, the only difference is in your wallet.

Dan's has these currently for $24.95 a bottle, so yes officially its 35c more, but you do only have to buy 1 bottle.

Reviews indicate a good wine though

    • The big difference is we are not a large chain but a local South Australian family run business. We are working hard to bring the best deals we can to the market. We hope you enjoy this or some of our other deals such as Angoves starting at $7.99 a bottle. It is a good wine but there is also other great Sauvignon Blancs available which is why we do the video wine tastings on the site.

Don't worry I'm all for supporting small businesses, but being Ozbargain every deal does need context. The fact you can beat Dan Murphy's though is a good thing.

        • Thanks Drakesy it's hard sometimes to compete with the chains especially when they drop their prices to match your offers.
