Telstra BYO Plan with Discount

Managed to finally get a real person reply msg in Telstra app. I currently have 2 X $10 credits applied to my mobiles on a $69 plan. Was about to port out. The online service just offered to take $20 off per month for any of the byo plans. So would be $30 for 30gb or $40 for 60gb for 12 months.

Is this a good deal? Or shd I port out and wait for Telstra/JB to bring out a crazy deal like last year's p30 deal/Huawei deal.

JB has the $65 with a 400 gift card. But I would have to port out and chance being able to port straight back in and I presume the 400 has to be spent in store

If it's a good deal, that means I'm stuck with the 3 catch connect 14.90 90day sims lol

  • I think that's a good deal.

  • Just a pity no handset to sell off. Sold off 2 of the p30 handsets for 750 each (which I got for $82 instead of $199) and had the gift cards from Huawei too. So the plans didn't end up costing me anything.

  • +2

I'm just impressed you managed to contact a real person in Telstra. They have been very hard to find lately.

  • Knew it was too good to be true. A different customer person messaged me late afternoon. Said she couldn't do it and only at my request supposedly sent an email to the initial customer service guy who offered it. Haven't heard anything since and my catch sims will expire end of month.

  • Just get away from Telstra if you can
They are only interested in Premium and Business customers

Forget the $20/mth credit. Its just a lolllipop to keep you there

What are your TRUE requirements/usuage? (not what you currenly have if you dont use the data)

And stay right away from any lock-in plans !!!!!!!
There are plenty of excellent month to month options both prepaid and post paid.

Plenty of mobile deals posted right here on OB

  • Got the $20 discount applied for another 12 months on the byo. So brings the 60gb plan down to $40 for 12 months. Managed to get refund for the catch connect sims too. happy days! At least this customer service guy was helpful.
