Philips Premium Air Fryer XXL $299 Delivered (RRP $429) @ Myer

590

The deal is back for the XXL Airfryer again, not as good as some of the previous deals but not a bad price I say.

The smaller one is also on sale for $249 but I think this is a better deal.

  • great for refrying stuff and keeping it crispy like chips
I mean, are you going to throw it back into the oil like a monster?

    • But is all the fuss just about a very small electric oven?

      • +3

        its small

so its quicker and more energy efficient

        • For those considering, keep in mind that it is an air fryer so the more space there is around the food inside, the better it will cook with the airflow going around. The smaller ones are not always better.

      • Basically.. but its like a microwave version of an oven.. Much faster and more convenient. We rarely use the oven now (mainly for bigger things/batches of food/cakes etc that require a bit more control over temp etc.), it is just so much faster, convenient, healthier and IMO comes out better - the food is on a wire rack with the hot air being blasted all around so everything comes out nice and crisp, with excess oil draining off.

It's like a small fan forced oven

The timer marking around the dial disappears after just a few weeks.
Spend a bit more to buy a digital 1.

    • +4

OKay it's quite a big more.
      https://www.myer.com.au/p/philips-airfryer-xxl-digital-hd986…

Be prepared to use a permanent marker to mark the time yourself then.

      • +4

or spray a clear sealant on the plastic, still a dreadful design flaw

I paid $350 for the digital one from Costco some 18 months ago. I already felt being ripped off because it's just a simple machine to blow hot air out. Expect it to be cheaper by now. It was bought because of WNF (wife nagging factor).

    • I have the same issue on my Airfry from Costco. Had to stop wiping clean the timer and temp markings

    • +1

I got bad experience with the digital version. The control board got fried after 2 years maybe due to the heat it’s exposed to. Been using the manual one like this one for 3 years and it’s still going strong. Yep have to use the permanent ink to mark the 180 and 200 degree but the others are visible.

    • +1

I used a label maker and remade the numbers

  • Two years later and mine is still there. :/

  • Thinking of getting this as my first airfryer but it's not digital.

How is this compared to Devanti https://www.myer.com.au/p/devanti-air-fryer-85l-lcd-digital-…

    • I feel I've seen that at at least $150, but if memory is correct around $99. Once in an Ebay click frenzy, can't quite remember the other time.

  • Can this replace an oven?

    • Yes, if you're not planning to cook a roast or a full sized cake.

    • +1

no, it only cooks a certain quantity of a certain type of food.

cooking grilled foods, frozen foods, sure

baking stuff… not really the right size.

    • It will fit 8 wings, you can buy accessories to stack your food though.

    • +1

Get a turbo oven…essentially the same thing but not as fashionable (albeit take a little longer). Last kitchen reno I did, didn’t even bother installing a wall oven…always use the turbo oven. Cheap/easy to replace when it dies. Even the more expensive easy cooks are half this price.

    • Short answer yes. We hardly use our main oven now, the device cooks a chook well, veggies work well too, esp pumpkin. Great for all sorts of potato dishes

The timer is badly designed, hard to set for less than 5 minutes and as others have already noted, the timer markings disappeared quickly, which is an unforgivable design error.

Much better than the cheapies is that is very easily cleaned thoroughly. Our old Aldi one was revolting when we tossed it out. YMMV.

What makes this one "premium"? Sounds like jazzy marketing lingo to me.

    • Premium relative to anything from Kmart or Aldi perhaps.

  • any recommendation below $100?

I bought the Anker Kmart 3.2L for $69 yesterday.Apparently they are the best in the market..

      • Can confirm this. Bought our Kmart air-fryer two years ago and still going strong. Cooks chicken wings to perfection!

    • +2

I've got the 5.8L Kmart one, it was $89

Love it. Lots of space, I even cooked a whole 1.85kg chook in it last week.

I wouldn't spend more than $100 on a brand name one when the Kmart airfryers do the same job.

    • +2

Kmart ones are the best. About to buy from Philips, but changed my mind because of the price. And it's the best thing we have purchased this year. It's so good.

  • +1

Got one of these.. It's great.. But it draws a full 2400w from the power point so you have to be careful not to overload your PowerPoint if you try and run too many things at once.. Jug.. Toaster.. Ect

    PSA: https://www.nytimes.com/wirecutter/reviews/best-air-fryer/

TLDR; They are a small egg shaped convection oven, and you probably don't need one.

  • I just bought the $69.00 Kmart one.. should i keep it or return and get this one instead???

    • lucky, which area? its always out of stock whenever i goes to kmart

      • Northlakes Kmart, Went to last night before closing. they had 10 about to put in shelf and i grabbed one ;) lucky i guess

    • Just keep the Kmart one as it's probably just as good, i have a cheap one and it has been going strong for years and even if it stops working in 12 months you can just buy another one and still be saving money.

  • Wah I just got this for 320 from Myer - can I ask for difference back??

  • Everybody is clearing discontinued product from last generation model.

  • On sale in Costco as well. $27x IIRC. HD9651/91

    • dont see it on their website.. shows full price .. do you have to log in?

      • went store yesterday send they were taking raincheck. Its a flyer sale item.

        • Which store?

          • @hippyhippy: Ringwood - a rep. said it will be re-stocked next week and they will give me a call when it does.

        • Does that mean its store specific or country wide?

  • just got one delivered from Myers $329

    • how? its showing out of stock for me?

  • +1

    Air fryers, OLEDs and Switches.

    So hot right now.

  • I have the small one, I’ve had it over a year and the numbers didn’t come off but I wish I had got a bigger one. I use it a lot more than expected and it doesn’t fit as much as I need.

  • My wife got an Aldi 8L $99 one recently, just opened it today. She said it is too big and wants to return it unused.
Looks like it would fit two smaller chickens in it.

In the manual it says it uses 1800W.

Should we just use it or return it and get a smaller one?

    Thanks.

    • 3,5L ones would be ideal i think.

Anyone else get a notification this morning that their order has been cancelled?

I checked pick up stock prior to ordering and plenty of stores had stock yet my order has been cancelled!
