Garage Spring Broke - Need Advice

So my garage has two springs and one broke and I presume I need to get both replaced (both very rusty).
How much should this normally cost because I have gotten quotes from $280-400?
I live on the Gold Coast (Brisbane side) and I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations on who I should use for the repair?
Panel/Sectional
Torsion Spring
4 Panels high - one quote said 4 panel high would cost 440 and 5 would cost 550

Got it fixed for $250 by https://www.facebook.com/Sunstate-Garage-Doors-and-Gates-114… he did a good job, would recommend.

  • roller door?

    • Panel lift?

  • Compression or tension spring?

  • +6

Assuming that you have obtained multiple quotes, it appears it will normally cost $280-400

  • Is that the price for both springs? We had an old panel lift door and the quotes to replace the springs was so high we ended up paying a little bit more for a brand new door and motor. The old door looked pretty crap and was 30 years old. So $280-400 aint too bad.

    • Two quotes did not specify but one said to replace a pair costs $385 which includes service of the door (idk why I would need a service for it)

      • Hopefully, check the condition of the rest of the door, and grease up the joints.

  • I paid $280 recently. They replace them in pairs as the other one will likely break within a few weeks.

Send me a PM if you want his details (I'm on the southside of Brisbane)

    • Thanks, I will. Just got a quote for 440-550 lol

  • 2 weeks ago I had both torsion springs done on the door to our apartment carpark. The door is 4 metres wide & 2.5m tall.

The strata manager's contractor quoted $1200+GST.

I got a guy I used 20 years earlier on another job. $920 inc GST.

You can buy the springs online. Mine were from $150- $300/pair. I did consider DIY but given the banging and crashing the professional guy did, I'm glad I didn't.

    Your quote seems reasonable.

  • If you have several quotes dear OP why are you asking us?

Its not going to make any difference to the quotes

Just go wth the cheapest one or buy the springs and do it yourslef - good luck!

    • because I want know what other people paid for the repair so that I don't get ripped off.

  • There’s a dishonest garage door repair company in Brisbane.Pm if you want to know the name
