Sharp Dent on Door, Almost No One in WA Can Repair It and They Suggest I Go with Insurance

Hey guys,

So been having storms here in WA and long story short a shelf fell on my door and dented it, deep dent but paint is not broken.
I have been doing picture quotes through 4 paintless dent removers and 2 said they can remove it but it may not be 100% back to how it was before and 2 suggested its impossible and i should just go with claim thru insurance and get both doors painted to match, I will have to pay excess of $700.

So basically I dont know how to go with it, I love my car and would like to get it fixed
its a 2013 Ford Falcon XR6 Turbo (Im in instagram lol "DFEKTME")

SO my options are:

  1. Go with the paintless dent removers for around $330-500 and may not be 100% the same.

  2. Go claim it with insurance and pay $700 with RAC but will be perfect, QUESTION, if i claim it with insurance how much would it affect my monthly pay? how much would it go up?

  3. Get a new door from the wreckers for $200-250 then get someone to transfer every internal of my door to the new one, another $200. BUT the paint quality may be different as age.

thanks guys!

New door or have it reskinned, surrounding panels will have to have paint blended as well. Sharp dents don't do well with paintless debt renoval.

How much for a panel shop to repair ie not a paintless one? My guess close to $700 for ‘cash’. Ergo, don’t use insurance.

    Got a pic?

    • It's a panel shop that suggested I go with my insurance, pics are up

I'd suggest getting quotes from some panel shops for a non insurance repair. May not be much more than your excess and won't effect your premium. The long term cost of a claim for a minor repair like this will always be higher than the upfront cost.

Why are you plugging your Instagram?

      Free internet points

    • Basically a shameless plug,

No, I know someone out there would comment to just leave it and move on since it's just a falcon, but I wanna show its something I worked hard for and wanna fix, even spend alot for a dent.

      He's plugging his car's IG.

  • I would try PDR first, partial resprays can be obvious if done cheaply.

Get some quotes from panel shops and pay cash. Get it done right and keep your insurance premiums where they are. Good luck.

P.s. I see you are in Perth. I've used Kustom Rides Panel and Paint in Ozzy Park and know others who have as well with great results.

    • Might pop in for a quote

How about a photo of the dent ???

      • car paint seems quite faded already as per photos, so who knows you might be able to get a very close door from the wrecker, pay them extra $50 they will replace it for you, usually going rate is about $200-300. don't even worry about insurance

No offence, Op but you're still on your Ls : you're going to dent that car a fair few times before you become a fully-licensed driver. Why not wait until then to fix it?

    Edit : or are you?

    • 😂, no, just let a mate drive

      • +1

You've let a mate on his 'L' plates drive your precious car?

Does your licence plate say defecate time?

    • Gotta love when a personalised plate reads multiple ways!

Locally I saw a Ford Focus RS that has RSKING. I though the owner might have been gay or was risking something prior before I worked out he wanted to be King of the RS’s
