Have confirmed with KK via online chat and calling my local store that this will again be happening this year.

More details will be announced on Monday but it should be similar to last year - credit to TA.

Mod: OP has reported that according to Krispy Kreme page, the free doughnut deal is no longer, now buy 1 dozen and get 1 doughnut free. Unobtainable deal.

        the lit sign is for when they are cooking original glaze. If they are cooking them you can ask for one and they'll give you one for a "sample" ;P

    Just go to a 7/11 towards the night and ask for some expired doughnuts. They are always stuff that didn't get sold throughout the day or from the day before.
