Is This a Good Price for Kia Seltos S

hi,
Looking to buy a Kia Seltos S with Gravity Grey. Currently, I was offered a driveaway price of $27,231.84.

Is this a good price or someone out there got a better deal?
Thanks!!

The website is offering me $27,225.60 drive away for 2000 postcode (Extra $1,000 for the safety pack… this really should be standard)

You've been offered promo pricing, no discount.

Though what's the wait time on these?

Side note, don't ever buy the base model. It's resale will drop like a brick compared to other models (competes with ex-rentals and fleet cars on the used market)

    Steel wheels…yuck

  • Thanks for the reply. I didnt ask about the wait time. What do you know about it?

I hate the steel wheels too, but my budget is really limited.

May be i should wait for the EOFY sale?

    • May be i should wait for the EOFY sale?

It just launched, there won't be one (well, the website is already offering drive-away special pricing on a newly launched car).

KIA EOY sale is generally $1000 off driveaway pricing for instock vehicles, delivered by 20 of July. Usually starts on a Monday, around the 20th of June.

I doubt you will get a better deal than that on such a new model KIA.

KIA's franchise agreement with your dealership means that the dealer can not charge more than the advertised driveway price (plus your options), and the EOY sale should be $1000 off the driveaway price, not a gift card (KIA usually advertises the EOY discount as a gift card but expects the dealership to convert to a discount as it is cheaper for KIA).

      Your price should be close to $27,225.60 - $1000 = $26,225.60.

Do not but before late June if you want this price.

If you are set on Gravity Grey, call around for a dealership with that colour in stock. There should be plenty. KIA swamps dealers with stock and discounts heavy at end of model life.

If your dealer tries to bullshit you (your car will be available in a fortnight) buy elsewhere, it is not in stock. They will often try to void your discount.

Demo bonus on these should be tiny, so push for brand new, non driven. It is not unusual for a 'brand new' KIA to have ~100km on them, again, due to how KIA structures their demo bonus's.

KIA swamps dealers with stock and discounts heavy at end of model life.

Only launched in October 19, from what my googles tells me

        • Yep. Should be plenty. Stock is usually thin the month before and after launch with KIA with most going straight to large fleet.

  • online price in Mel is $27,210.

  • Kia's, especially the Seltos are selling like hot cakes currently.

We visited several franchises in Melbourne's Eastern suburbs looking for suitable vehicles recently and some didn't even have a new Seltos to show us and suggested up to 4 months waiting time if they couldn't source one from another dealership.

This would suggest that it's maybe not a good time to be looking for huge discounts.

    • That is usually due to a dealership underestimating demand.

There is 75 new advertised on Carsales and another 37 Demo's. For comparison, there are 143 Sportage's advertised, which are proven consistent sellers.

      • There's a difference between advertising stock and having stock available.

Dealership's are still claiming that they have current stock even when they haven't.

1 dealership said they had 1 in stock but it was out on a test drive and they didn't know when it would be back. SURE/s

        • There are many reasons why a demo might not be available to drive. It might not have physically arrived. It could be undriven in a holding yard. It could be a service loan car. It could be do not drive for a mechanical recall (think the Ranger's grass fire issue). It might be about to be sold. It could be getting a paint defect repaired (common).

But if they are feeding you bull, probably best to shop elsewhere.

      • Those 75 new car ads don't represent new cars in stock, you should know that… It's all the possible combinations of the car - models/colours. Every manufacturer does the same. Your enquiry goes to the nearest dealer, that's all.

Very few of your Sportages list dealers against them from a quick glance. The rest are just listings, like the Seltos listings mentioned above.

        • Those 75 new car ads don't represent new cars in stock, you should know that…

          Thank you for that info.

It has changed since I left the industry. You could not publish an ad to carsales with out a VIN due to bate and switch issues.

The Seltos demos are real atleast.

  • We signed up for our Seltos Sport+ on the 23rd March, with delivery expected late July/early August.

Good luck finding a demo when they are selling all that they can get.

Agree with Spackbace on not buying the base model.

  • Wooo! Just checked my area on the Kia website, $26,690 $27,225.60 drive away…(forgot "metallic paint") Thanks OP. Bought 3.

    Estimated On Road Costs: $4,437

    Holy WTF?

    Stamp Duty = $816
    Rego Fee = $67
    Taxes = $254
    Plate Fee = $47
    Greenslip = $350
    Total = $1,534

There is $2,903 in dealer bullshit tax on this price? I would be using their price, deleting the $2,900 "dealer delivery" charges off the price and starting your offer about there. That's a lot of coin for a dealer to remove the plastic and rub a cloth over the vehicle.

(Please note, this is for NSW, that is much more expensive than OP's state of Vic. So this Bullshit tax in Vic could/would be higher.)

    • Hang on, how much does 12 months rego cost you?

      • For something like the Seltos, in a rural-ish area of NSW, it would be about $680/year give of take differnce for age and driving experience.

      • Rego Fee = $67 + Taxes = $310 aka 12 months rego + ctp

        • Right so I've been quoted $680 and $310…

Can I ask the audience, maybe phone a friend?!

          • @spackbace: $310 + Mandatory CTP (green slip) = about $680.

In most states, Compulsory Third Party Personal insurance is part of the state issued rego. In NSW, you purchase it separately but is mandatory and changed differently for different people based on their age, experience, location etc etc…

So, the total cost of rego for something about the size of the Seltos would be around $680 ~ $800ish (depending on driving history, age, location etc…)

  • $310 + $67+Variable CTP

Why doesnt OP just shop around? Dont be lazy!

Its irrelevent what we say because on the day and in OPs area it will always be different
